Hellers Medical Fund

On August 4th, 2017 Kyle Heller, a sawyer with the Diamond Mountain Hotshots, was struck by a falling tree while prepping control line on a fire in Northern California. Kyle sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted to the nearest hospital. While Kyle is expected to make a full recovery, he will be faced with several months of rehabilitation, and will be unable to finish the fire season with his crew. The individual financial hardships faced during months of recovery are often overlooked, and due to the seasonal nature of a wildland firefighters job, Kyle will be unable to work for several months. Unforeseen and uncovered medical costs will likely arise during Kyle's rehabilitation, and although his family is at his side to support him, both emotionally, physically, and financially, we are asking his firefighting family to offer their support. Financial donations are appreciated, but motivational comments during his recovery from friends, family, and brothers and sisters of the wildland fire community are just as important. Kyle had declined initial offers of setting up a Go Fund Me account, but being the stand up guy that he is, agreed that any money raised, that is not needed to get him through the coming months, would be donated to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation. The Diamond Mountain Hotshots, wish Kyle the best through his recovery, and look forward to him finding his way back with the crew in 2018.
