My wife and I have been together for over 15 years and we had our first child 2 years ago. We paid out of pocket that time (I don't know if this was even an option back then) and we got REALLY lucky getting pregnant on the first try. The average is 3-4 tries. My wife carried our first baby, and I would like to carry our second.
Being a same sex couple means we have to pay quite a bit to have a family. Each month we try can cost upwards of $3000. Our insurance doesn't cover anything.
I have a great job, and my wife provides daycare in our home, but we don't quite make as much as we need for more than one try. Normally, this is something we would keep private and save our pennies for. However, after the endometriosis issues I had a couple years ago, I'm not sure how much time I have left to try. The doctors say as of right now, I should be ok. We would also like to keep our kids close in age.
If we surpass our goal or get lucky on the first try again, any extra money raised will be donated to another couple in the same situation. We are all about paying it forward. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
