Kulani's Medical Missions to India

Dear Family and Friends,

Many of you may remember, three years ago I volunteered at an orphanage in Haiti. I would leave having learned so much and knew I would be called to work internationally again.  Although many of my teammates would be called back to Haiti, on my way home from Haiti I pondered if I would return, only to hear God whisper “India”. At the time I had little understanding or clue of  when, how, or what that meant. For 2+ years I have tried to make sense of it…attributing the thought to my admiration for the work of Mother Teresa. Even up until several months ago I still would not know that through a series of unexpected circumstances an opportunity would present itself as only God could have orchestrated. I have been given a place as a registered nurse to join a surgical mission team, Standing Straight, headed to India on March 3-13th.

Standing Straight is a 501c3 non profit started by Dr. Bains, an orthopedic spine surgeon. Their  mission is to provide spine surgery for children affected by spinal deformities who are unable to afford care. By providing life changing surgery these children are able to the first time in their lives stand straight. They can step away from stigmas associated with deformity and extend their life expectancy. Entire families are positively affected by surgery and the teams that come to serve.  

I am writing for you to prayerfully consider partnership with my endeavor to India and the Standing Straight non-profit.  Many expenses have been provided; airfare to India, lodging, and food. But there a several outstanding expenses I am fundraising to meet. Roundtrip airfare to the team in San Francisco ($400), necessary immunizations, medications($500), and a goal of $500 for the organization. Prayer warriors are needed too!! To please lift up the children and families we will be interacting with, for the safety and health of the team, and my children as I travel.
