“I want to be like a sunflower; so that even on the darkest days I will stand tall and find the sunlight.” -Unknown Author Hello beautiful people,I am Kristy Ramos, a mother to 3 beautiful daughters Ari, Aleina, &amp; Wynter, curly hairstylist, &amp; curly hair educator to hairstylists for my brand, Sunflowers &amp; Scissors. My entire world &amp; way of life has changed since last year when I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer March 17th of 2021. After multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, &amp; radiation treatments unfortunately my diagnosis has now progressed to stage 4 terminal breast cancer. Though my diagnosis is a hard pill to swallow, I will continue to focus on making the best of my time making memories with my loved ones. In my career as a hairstylist specializing in natural hair I focused on spreading the message of self love through learning about the beauty of one’s own hair. That notion was the catalyst for me to start teaching that to hairstylists in effort to foster real change for the beauty industry to do better when it came to creating more inclusive, diverse, &amp; safe spaces. As I am still going through this breast cancer journey, I will always share my message of being proactive in your health because it can help save your life so in a sense I am “educating” about taking care of your health too.
