Krissy for Miss California USA 2015

Hi!

My name is Kristen Synowicki and I am representing San Francisco in the Miss California USA 2015 pageant. Here's a little about me, and why I wanted to enter the Miss California competition.

I was born and raised in Lodi, CA where I learned to work hard, get good grades, be active, and that family is everything. It is a small and quaint community where pretty much everybody knows everybody. I played many sports growing up, but stuck with soccer all the way through college. I received a scholarship to play soccer for the University of San Francisco, and have lived in San Francisco ever since.

I have two nephews, ages 4 and 3, who both fall on the Autism Spectrum. These boys are wonderful, happy, and very smart kids who just want to learn, communicate, interact and play, but have some challenges doing so. It is completely heartbreaking to see Autistic children try so hard, but just can't do some of the most simplest things that come naturally to other children. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to learn more about it from my sister and brother-in-law, so that I can help to give hope to other families dealing with Autism. I have seen my nephews make huge improvements from receiving intervention therapy, and working with an amazing biomedical Doctor who is getting them healthy and hopefully cured. The most important thing I have learned from all this is that parents should educate themselves and fight for the best care for their children because they CAN get better. One of my goals in this pageant is to bring hope to families and to share my family's experience with Autism.

I chose to run for Miss CA USA because it is more than just a beauty pageant to me; it is an outlet of endless possibilities and I hope to be able to educate others on Autism Awareness, as well as just be a role model for some of these kids. If I can get the word out there and potentially even help one family, then that means I'm doing my job. Being crowned Miss California USA will give me opportunities to be a voice, an ambassador, and a leader.

With your sponsorship, I will be able to cover all costs of my gowns, swimsuits, pageant materials, and pageant fees. Any money I receive over what I may need for the pageant, I will donate to The Best Buddies Program or the Autism Research Institute. Thank you for your kindness, generosity and support!
