Hip Replacement Kitwana needs our help!

Kitwana Robinson was born with Sickle Cell Disease. In spite of the many challenges (often life threatening) that he has faced during his 35 years in the world, he has overcome with a display of grit and determination that has been admired by many.
In 2005, he suffered two major near fatal strokes which left him with significant mental and physical challenges. His working career as a Statistician at the Statistical Institute was curtailed, his ability to walk, the ability to use his right hand, as well as his reading and writing skills are just some of the challenges that he faces.
Refusing to be held back, Kitwana took advantage of the support provided particularly by his Mother and sister, both of whom are artists, to take up painting and in the past four years has managed to become an artist of some distinction. He has already staged one major exhibition at the Olympia Art Gallery and looking forward to at least two more in the next 2 months including a show of his works at the Liguanea Art Festival.
His works are currently displayed at the Sickle Cell Unit on the University Campus and in many private homes and offices and his miraculous story has been broadcast in various media including BBC, TVJ on the program "A Ray of Hope", The Gleaner, and the Observer.
He now faces the challenge of urgently needed surgery to have a Hip Replacement done. This has come about as a result of Sickle Cell Disease and compounded by the weakened state of his right side as a result of the strokes.
The Surgery is speculated to cost in the region of Ja$1 million and his doctors have stipulated that this surgery must be done within the next 6 weeks in order to reduce the excruciating pain that he is currently experiencing on a daily basis.
Since his stroke he has been required to have consistent therapy of various types at a significant cost to his caregivers not to mention consistent supplies of medication especially to reduce the incidence of seizures which were an all too regular occurrence in the days immediately following the Stroke.
In spite of all these setbacks, Kitwana has showed superhuman resilience and determination to live as normal a life as possible.
His achievements has served to motivate members of the Sickle Cell community and has made him an inspiration to all who have encountered this young man.
This campaign serves to seek your assistance (especially in light of the fact that the beneficiary is deeply involved in the Arts and this is a matter of Health) in primarily helping to cover the costs of the pending surgery required and if possible help in his rehabilitation and the continued development of a potentially great artist.
Over the years, the deterioration of cartilage in his hip joint combined with multiple crippling pain crises has brought Kitwana to need a Total Hip Replacement Surgery.
We are reaching out to ANY and EVERYONE to donate funds for Kitwana to get this surgery.
