Alorah's Kiss my Assthma campaign

Donation protected

As you all know Alorah has been in and out of the hospital since March and severely ill since February.  While insurance covers the bulk of our expenses even while traveling out-of-town our budget is incredibly tight and every added expense stresses our frail finances.  Nathan and I both work full-time opposite shifts to make sure one of us is always with Alorah.  Our schedules are hard on us but we stay the course because it is so important to us to work hard in spite of everything we have faced this year.  We have found it increasingly difficult to keep up as cost of gas has increased and our travel to and from Colorado has not decreased.  We face several more trips up there if her need for a surgical lung biopsy proves necessary which at this point is very likely.  While insurance does pay for either mileage or a flight to Colorado they do not pay for a rental car while there and we have incurred maintenance on our 14 year-old vehicle (oil, transmission, tires, etc.).  Deciding to ask for help is not something Nathan nor I take lightly.  I am in school working toward my RN (I have all of my credit hours for my ADN completed and only have clinicals to finish out my degree, while I wait to get into a clinical program I am working on credits that will help me obtain my BSN).  I work 5 overnight shifts in an assisted living facility and Nathan is a service writer for a local car company.  I have the opportunity to make extra money by taking a temporary position with the Department of Education from January-March an extra 20-30 hours per week.  Until then we are having to scrape by and every little bit helps.  We will use every dime raised toward medical bills (we have received bills not covered by insurance for the first time this week), travel, upkeep on our vehicle (she will not be able to fly after the biopsy so we must take our truck for that trip), and to help offset the cost of a rental car.  Any monies not used for these purposes will be put into an account which will pay for college.  Alorah has maintained a 4.0 GPA despite her illness and she was selected to be part of AVID next school year based on an essay she wrote, her grades, and her teacher's recommendations which were petitioned earlier this year.  AVID is for kids, like Alorah, who come from less than affulent homes but show the promise of being able to excel in college.  It will give her the tools to help her succeed and she was put into honor's math as part of this program.  Please know that we deeply appreciate any help we are given.  Many aspects of Alorah's illness have challenged us this year but finances have been particularly hard to deal with.  If anyone knows of a business that would allow us to hold a car wash to help raise funds please let us know.  We aren't afraid of hard work or getting dirty!  Thank-you so much for your consideration.
