Masters Degree in Global Leadership

Believing I am someone who can change the world isn't always easy. But it is true. And that is what I want to do. I was accepted by Fuller Theological Seminary to study in their Intercultural Studies Department. I will be earning a Masters Degree in Global Leadership.

Suburban Dad for Spiritual Change in Russia
The last ten years of living as a suburban dad on a quiet residential street in Austin, Texas has not lulled me into a total global spiritual slumber. There have been moments of chaos raising four kids and working in a local church for the unchurched like Gateway, but I have not forgotten about people around the world who are looking for a real connection to the life of Jesus. I still dream of spiritual change for the next generation of Russians.

Russian Hipsters
The 20-something Facebooking, Tweeting, Hipsters of Moscow and St. Petersburg are not the same as the Soviet era ending, bread line standing, shock economy, haggard crowds of the past two decades. These energetic, globally minded, innovative technologists are preparing for a prosperous future.

Church of the Past, Not the Future
However, I am concerned about the future spiritual prosperity of Russian 20-somethings. It's not so hopeful. I was recently talking with the Director of a Moscow Seminary who told me he doesn't know exactly how to train the next generation of pastors to meet the demands of the changing modern culture in Russia.  He believes too many Orthodox and Non-Orthodox church denominations are still trying to preserve the church of the past.

Discovering a New Way Forward
I want to be a part of the solution in Russia. The church needs to connect with a new generation of Russians. My studies at Fuller Seminary will be for the purpose of becoming a world-class missiologist to help create, sustain and renew local Christian churches in Russia for the next generation. I hope it is an ancient modern future where the best parts of the past church are the brightest parts of the future church.

I Can Change the World
I might not be able to change the world for everyone, but I will for some, as I work with Russian leaders to present Jesus in relevant, bridge-building ways, that connect at a cultural, relational and spiritual level with people.

A Decade of Transition
In the next decade I am transitioning from doing local ministry in Austin, Texas to doing global ministry around the world. This Masters in Global Leadership is one step in the transition over the next two or three years. My best years are yet to come and I am thankful for any support you can provide to make it happen!!!
