Hey there everyone!
Just to explain, a fantastic opportunity has come my way but I won’t be able to take advantage of it without a little bit of help.
I have been lucky enough to secure a place on a one year intensive course at The London School of Musical Theatre (LSMT) starting September 2017!!! As you may expect I am stunned and thrilled by the offer mainly due to the fact that it is a highly competitive course. There were 600 applicants and only 35 places available and I still cannot quite believe that I managed to get one. While I would really love to make the most of such a unique opportunity that aims to get me industry ready on completion, the harsh reality is that I am just not able to cover the fees of £15,000 financially without obtaining some kind of support.
Why Me?
Since Primary School I have always been determined to succeed when it came to my studies. This attitude is what lead me to gain a place at Imperial College London studying Joint Mathematics and Computer Science. At the same time, Musical Theatre (mainly singing and acting) remained a strong passion of mine and I would constantly make sure I took every chance I had to participate in any activity related to it during my free time. Be it playing the roles of “Fat Sam” (in Bugsy Malone) and “Bobby Child” (in Crazy For You) at Secondary School and then in 2014 joining the National Youth Theatre and taking part in multiple acting workshops, the desire to perform never left me. Throughout university, alongside my studies, I regularly performed with an A Cappella group and have continued to take part in our musical theatre society’s productions. Most recently I played the role of “Collins” in "RENT – The Musical" (as you can see in the pictures above). The course at (LMST) will be the next step towards my dream of performing in the Musical Theatre Industry professionally.
What I’m doing?
Being a full time intensive course the options to work alongside it are limited and I am currently trying my best to accumulate funds through various jobs over the summer. Having completed a three year degree I have already stacked up thousands of pounds of debt in student loans so I am now looking for any support I can get to fund my training in the field that I am truly passionate about (through charity, scholarships or by any other means).
