Help Kimmora fight stage 4 cancer

Donation protected

Kimmora’s Cancer Journey started in November 2016. She started out having headaches and after a visit to Urgent Care she was being treated for an ear infection. The medicine wasn’t doing her any good because she continued to feel really bad. On November 22nd we discovered a lump above her right eye and thought it was swollen from of lack of sleep. On Thanksgiving she begin to complain about her side hurting. On Saturday November 26, her mother was massaging her head and discovered another lump on her head.  Kimmora was taken to Urgent Care again and a scan was done on her head and she was diagnosed with an abnormal skull.

Kimmora, was admitted into Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital, Columbia, S.C. in the ICU unit that night.  After a number of tests, the team of doctors were 95% sure it was cancer. They also found a tumor on her Adrenal Gland and she needed to have surgery to attempt to remove the entire tumor. The surgery was a success, all of the tumor was removed.  Now, the wait was to find out if the tumor was benign or malignant. There was a four day wait to find out that it was malignant.  She was diagnosed with stage IV high-risk neuroblastoma.  The cancer had spread over her entire body.

The doctors stated that her journey back to health will take approximately one year and a half.  We are a 1/3 of the way into the process with one year to go.  Since her diagnosis six months ago, Kimmora has had three surgeries, five rounds of chemo and one bone marrow transplant. The bone marrow transplant was in Charleston, S.C. and was a (5) week stay in the hospital.  Kimmora is scheduled for the 2nd bone marrow transplant in early June which will be another (5) week stay in the hospital. This will also be in Charleston, S.C. The treatment after that is radiation and we have been told it will take place in one of the following cities Atlanta, Columbia or Jacksonsonville, FL.  Following the radiation process will be immunotherapy.

Kimmora’s primary care treatment is in Charleston and her family lives in Columbia so the family has to travel back and forth between the cities. When she has a hospital stay myself (grandmother) and my mom Margaret Williams (great-grandmother) travels back and forth from Atlanta to stay with her. This allows my daughter Crystal and son-in-law Anthony to continue to work and maintain the health insurance. We were fortunate enough to get a room at the Ronald McDonald House during the last transplant and we are on a waiting list for the next transplant.  Over the next few weeks and months, we will need to be at countless doctor appointments & hospital stays.

Asking for help is never easy, but as you can imagine, this has been a financial hardship on the family. Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. This will enable Kimmora’s parents/family be able to concentrate on Kimmora getting well and fighting this wicked disease called cancer. So from the bottom of our hearts, we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family.

**I will be updating this page as more information comes in on treatment details.** You can also follow her facebook at  https://www.gofundme.com/Kimmora

We thank you for your continued prayers, contributions and may God bless each and every one of you!!
