Kids Care 4 Polar Bears

Donation protected

Ember, age 10, and Azalea Morgan, age 9, want to do something to help Polar Bears and all animals that are impacted by Climate Change. They have a fundraising goal to make their school run on 100% clean, renewable energy by 2023. They hope their school can be a model for all NH schools. They also want to lobby elected officials for more public funding for renewable energy for schools,  bike lanes, alternative transportation and clean energy. And next? Maybe another ride (this time with more friends!) to bring their message to D.C. in summer 2021?
Inspired by 17 year old Climate Activist, Greta Thunberg, the girls decided to take part in the Youth Climate Strike in September 2019 and went on strike from school for 16 days. During their strike from school, they rode their bikes with their Mom, Molly (AKA "Mama Bear") about 250 miles (and some public transit, too) from NH to NYC to raise 1. Awareness about climate change and 2. Money to make their school run on 100% renewable energy.

During their trip, they got a great start on their fundraising goal, and raised about $600 by asking the people they met along the way to put  "Spare Change for Climate Change" in a bucket they carried  with them. They raised another $550 online during their ride.

For larger tax deductible donations, please  clink link to our partner non-profit organization, Mountain Spirit Institute, an educational non-profit dedicated to environmental causes. It will be tax deductible for you, and they will make sure all funds donated for KK4PB's will get to us and support the kids school to run on 100% clean energy: http://www.mtnspirit.org/support.html

In 2021, they hope to raise a total of $30,000 by Earth Day 2021 so that they can go to the School Board and explain if they, as kids, were able to take serious measures to raise money for serious solutions to climate change (like solar panels and geothermal), then the district may be willing to accept their proposal to install solar panels to their school. (That is the solution they came up with to help the Polar Bears, whom they are grief-stricken about).

The solar panels can actually generate a profit (especially in the summer when school uses less energy) if the electricity is sold back to the energy company. The Morgan kids propose that those funds will go future sustainability projects at the school such as buying more organic and local foods, making the building more energy efficient, and funding their newly founded student environmental group. They hope the school will run on 100% Clean Energy by 2023.

In addition, Kids Care 4 Polar Bears hopes to use funds to organize another big bike ride and to  partner with other Youth Environmental groups such as 350.org Youth Team, Sierra Club Climate Parents, and Extinction Rebellion Families this time with 10's, maybe 100's of riders, to go to  Washington D.C. in the summer of 2021.

In D.C.  they want to tell their leaders to take serious measures to help Climate Change and that they should support funding for so that ALL schools (and some public buildings) can run on 100% clean energy (and that kids should not have to ride their bikes to raise the money themselves!)
