Life, prosperity, and health!

I am Aankh Benu the founder, Tour Organizer and Leader of the Khu Khem Kemet Tour 2016. The theme of this tour is "Exploring the Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) Tradition in ts Afrikan Context" This tour was born out of a need for our ancestral story to be told in its proper Afrikan context. It is our vision that this tour ultimately becomes an annual sacred pilgrimage for Afrikan People worldwide, and that it may be utilized as a vehicle to enlighten, inspire, empower, and unite Afrikan people worldwide (continental and diasporans).  We need your help in making this vision a reality. Your contributions will assist us in completely meeting our obligations and covering our expenses, and also the production of a DVD that will serve the purpose of documenting the entire experience to be shared with our people upon our return. I know that together there is nothing that we cannot accomplish. We can and will make this happen! Thank you, and much love and appreciation.

The Khu Khem Kemet Tour is an annual Tour/Pilgrimage to Egypt, in which Afrikan people and people of Afrikan Descent both from the continent of Afrika and the Diaspora travel to Egypt to make spiritual pilgrimage to the land of their Ancestors, to learn about the Black Afrikan origins of Ancient Egypt, and their connection to this great civilization. The focal point of the tour is ”Exploring the Kemetic Tradition in its Afrikan context.” The aim is to demonstrate the continuity and kinship between Ancient Egypt as an Afrikan Nation, and modern Afrikan nations and peoples, through the exploration and comparison of the spiritual traditions, cosmologies, festivals, ritual motifs, language (linguistics), as well as oral traditions. Participants will learn:

• The Ancient Kemetic Spiritual Tradition in its Purest Afrikan Context.

• The Ancient Kemetic Spiritual Worldview, our (and our Ancestors)understanding and experience of the Divine, in its correct/proper interpretation.

• The Divine Spiritual forces called Neteru, their roles and functions in the universe, and their intrinsic relationship to you.

• How our Ancestors venerated these forces, in the temples where they actually served them.

• The Ancient Kemetic System of Ancestral Veneration. Learn how our Ancestors honored their Ancestors.

• The meaning of the Cosmologies, and how they are reflected in the actual organization and layout of Kemet as a nation, and the construction of the Temple.

• The Continuity and Kinship between the Kemetic Spiritual Tradition and Afrikan Spiritual Traditions throughout the Continent and the Diaspora.

• The Ancient Kemetic Festivals, their significance, and their relationship to other Afrikan Festivals still practiced today throughout the world.

• The Afrikan Origins of the Kemetic People, and the Afrikan Dispersal (Diffusion) of the Kemetic People into the Heart of Afrika.

• That the Kemetic Spiritual Tradition is still today a Living Tradition.

• Exactly Why You Are Drawn to Kemet

Why this Tour is important to Afrikan People in general

"Ancient Egypt was a Negro civilization. The history of Black Africa will remain suspended in the air and cannot be written correctly until African historians dare to connect it with the History of Egypt. In particular, the study of languages, institutions, and so forth, cannot be treated properly; in a word, it will be impossible to build African humanities, a body of African human sciences, so long as that relationship does not appear legitimate…The ancient Egyptians were Negroes. The moral fruit of their civilization is to be counted among the assets of the Black world…to become conscious of that fact is perhaps the first step toward a genuine retrieval of himself; without it, intellectual sterility is the general rule, or else the creations bear I know not what imprint of the subhuman. "
The African Origins of Civilization: Myth or Reality ~Dr. Cheik Anta Diop

“Our great Ancestor and Scholar Dr. Cheik Anta Diop, who was a major advocate of a “Re-mebered,” or unified Afrika, held the idea that a unified Afrika would become a reality once it is realized that Afrika already shares a unified Afrikan Culture, with Ancient Kmt (Egypt) as its common Ancestor for this Afrikan Culture… In short, Dr. Diop held the view that there is no legitimate Afrikan history (and culture) disconnected from Black Afrikan Kmt or Egypt, and without this connection being made we degenerate to an uncivilized or “subhuman” way of being. I am in complete agreement with Dr. Diop’s point, but would also add the following point: It is not enough to simply realize that Egypt was a Black, African nation and hold it as a bragging chip, or trophy of which we can be proud of, as many of our people currently have done, nor is it enough for us to study the history, politics, social structure, etc. We must bring ourselves to understand Kmt, what made her great, the ideas that were the very threads and glue of the society, and elicit the Afrikan genius that went on to build that great civilization. And after any careful study of Kmt, one will quickly realize that the spiritual culture and tradition was that glue, that “thread” that was interwoven throughout every single aspect of the culture and society.”
Remembering Osir – Aankh Benu

Based upon the foundation that has been laid by esteemed Afrikan ancestors such as Dr. Cheik Anta Diop, and prestigious elders such as Theophile Obenga and many other Afrikan people of the continent and the Diaspora, an “Afrikan school” of Egyptology (Kemetology) was born to provide an alternative and more accurate approach and methodology to studying, interpreting, and understanding Ancient Egypt, by studying her History, culture and traditions, and language through primarily an Afrikan centered lens; viewing her in a greater Afrikan contexts. Fundamental premise being that Egypt was in essence a Black Afrikan nation, and as such should be examined in the greater context of Black Afrika in order for true clarity to be gained from her study. Following this premise has been fruitful for Afrikan (and some Non-Afrikans) scholars of the “Afrikan School.” In understanding that Egypt was a product of Black Africa and not Europe, Asia, or the Mediterranean, these scholars no longer look outside Afrika for answers in her regards, but to Black Afrika for insight and clarity as to both the origins and legacy of Ancient Egypt and her people. This has led to the redefining, and in many instances discarding of many academic theories that have been widely accepted (in many cases without question) by mainstream Egyptology, for more accurate and fruitful theories and methods. One example of such a case is the classification of the Egyptian Language as a member of the “Afro-Asiatic” (Hamito-Semitic) Language family, a theoretical “linguistic classification” that seeks to group, relate, and compare the Egyptian language with languages such as Hebrew, Arabic, etc. Scholars of the African School of Egyptology have abandoned this classification for that of “Negro-Egyptian,” in following the precedence set by Dr. Diop and Dr. Obenga, in which the Egyptian Language is grouped with, related to, and compared with modern Afrikan languages such as Yoruba, Bantu Languages, Wolof, Akan, etc. The linguistic work done in this vein, has done much in not only working towards a reconstruction of the Egyptian language and its vocalization, but also it is demonstrating that many Afrikan languages, if not most, are related, holding the Egyptian Language as a common ancestor. Furthermore, this work has also led to the recognition and classification of a Proto Negro-Egyptian family, which seeks to explain which Afrikan Languages are not only related to Egyptian, but are potentially parent languages of the Egyptian Language; further attesting to the Black Afrikan origins of the Ancient Egypt. Another important theory is the redefining of the Egyptian language as not simply one language, per se, but a “Lingua Franca;” an umbrella Language that was constructed to unite several different languages or dialects. This is to say that the Egyptian language was constructed to unite several Afrikan Languages and peoples, to help form a unified Egypt, which in truth became the first “United States” of Africa.

As the Language of a people is the storehouse of their culture, the defining of an “Negro-Egyptian” Language Family also bears the fruit of revealing a Negro-Egyptian Culture. Since the Negro Egyptian Language family demonstrates a linguistic kinship between several Afrikan Languages throughout the continent of Afrika, further study also reveals that there is Cultural unity and Kinship throughout the continent of Afrika as well. This particular point is not only demonstrated through the language, but through the observation, study, and comparison of Traditional Afrikan Cosmologies, “Mythologies” Folk Tales,” Spiritual Traditions, Ritual Motif, festivals, and traditional worldview. In studying and comparing the Kemetic Culture and Traditions with those of modern Black Afrika one finds that just as the Kemetic Language in a sense unites Afrikan Languages, Kemetic culture and spiritual traditions in a sense unite Afrikan cultures and spiritual traditions. Reflecting on the fact that Ancient Kemet was in essence the first “United States of Afrika,” it should be noted that this particular fact is not just a historical “factoid,” but is of great relevance and importance today, as the Afrikan Union strives to raise Afrika collectively, and the vision and idea of a United States of Africa is Heralded once more.

'Divided we are weak; united, Africa could become one of the greatest forces for good in the world… I believe strongly and sincerely that with the deep-rooted wisdom and dignity, the innate respect for human lives, the intense humanity that is our heritage, the African race, united under one federal government, will emerge not as just another world bloc to flaunt its wealth and strength, but as a Great Power whose greatness is indestructible because it is built not on fear, envy and suspicion, nor won at the expense of others, but founded on hope, trust, friendship and directed to the good of all mankind.'
I Speak of Freedom ~ Kwama Nkrumah

As today the Afrikan continent and it’s people are greatly divided by tribes, nations, languages ethnic groups, cultures, religion, etc. However, as it has already been mentioned in this proposal, and will be demonstrated during the Khu Khem Kemet Tour, this difference is only surface deep, and once the surface is penetrated one comes to find an Africa that is unified in essence. The Kemetic Language and Traditions not only provide us with a precedent for a unified Africa, but also a blueprint. Also, we find in the language and spiritual traditions a vehicle that can help to carry us to that vision that Kwame Nkrumah spoke about.

One of the major obstructions to unity and harmony has been religious differences amongst African people, especially the differences between those that practice non-African traditions. By non- African traditions/religions, we are speaking to those religions that have their origins in lands and peoples outside of Afrika, and has been spread into Africa either by Colonization, Neo-colonialism, slavery, or the adoption of Western/foreign cultures. For instance it is estimated that over 80% of continental Africans adhere to an Abrahamic Faith (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), with the bulk being split between Christianity and Islam. Due to historical domination and propaganda, many African people now flock to these traditions while abandoning, frowning upon, and forsaking the spiritual ways of their Ancestors. However, these religions are some of the chief elicitors and agents of disharmony and violence that affects the continent. Yet the question must be asked: If African people realized that the religions that they’ve adopted from foreigners actually have their origins in the spiritual traditions of Afrikan peoples, and that their own Afrikan Ancestral Traditions predate these foreign religions by millennia, would they still flock to the ways of foreigners, or would they reclaim, hold on to, and find Self Value, Self Pride, and Empowerment in their own Afrikan Identity and Traditions?

This tour will demonstrate that the fact that Afrikan people had spirituality, moral codes and ethics, sophisticated and highly evolved conceptualizations of the Divine and natural laws long before the people they look to for culture were even civilized. It will also be demonstrated that many of the concepts and themes found in Christianity and Islam can be found in the Kemetic Tradition thousands of years before. However, most importantly it will be demonstrated that the Kemetic Tradition as all Afrikan traditions are in themselves rich, and completely suffice to fulfill our spiritual needs.

It will be demonstrated that in Afrikan spiritual traditions there is no concept, ideology, or doctrine of conversion or religious proselytization. The reason for this is simple. There is no need for it as in essence most if not all Afrikan Traditions are related, or unified by a common Afrikan Worldview that is expressed in the cosmologies, spiritual practices, and ritual motifs of Afrikan peoples.

Special care is made to present the intricacies and unique qualities of the Afrikan traditions (including the Kemetic tradition) as well as those things that greatly unite these traditions with the rest of Afrikan traditions or ATRs (Afrikan Traditional Religions), specifically what can be considered the pillars of Afrikan Spirituality:

• Acknowledgment of One Divine Being

• This One Divine Being manifests itself and works through a multiplicity of beings/agencies (so-called deities or lesser gods), all being aspects of the One.

• The veneration, approach, becoming acquainted with, and realization/communion with this Divine being is accomplished greatly through his many Agencies

• The Acknowledgement, veneration, and interaction with Ancestors, and their interceding in our affairs.

• Communion and communication with the spiritual realm through ritual and divination. This includes Deities and Ancestors

• The importance of satisfying and uplifting the various agencies of the spirit world through our spiritual/moral cultivation, offerings, and sacrifice, for success in life, and the realization and actualization of one’s innate potential.

Once the great commonalities and unity inherent in Afrikan Traditions are made known, this can serve as a precursor to a greater unity of Afrikan people, rooted in the authentic and ancient ways of our Ancestors.

Another reason why this tour is important for Afrikan people, is that it will further confirm what many Afrikan people have known and told throughout the ages in their respective oral traditions. Many Afrikan peoples throughout the continent say in their own traditions that their origins are in Egypt/Nubia or the Nile Valley, and in many stating the same reasons for the relocation to their current locations, i.e. due to warfare, or desertification. Among these Afrikan people are the Nguni Peoples of Southern Afrika, the Yoruba, Igbo, and Ijaw of Nigeria, Akan and Ashante of Ghana, Ewe of Ghana-Togo, Kalenjin of Kenya, Dogon of Mali, etc.

In conclusion this tour will serve the purpose of reestablishing in some cases, and reaffirming in others, a critical piece of the Heritage of Afrikan people. This tour is both a spiritual and educational experience that will not only give a deeper understanding of Afrikan spirituality, but also lay a foundation for Afrikan people worldwide to unite on the bases of the cultural continuity and kinship held by Afrikan people worldwide. This tour will also give the pilgrim detailed information that they may conduct further research if they so wish, and return to their respective nations with a newfound love and appreciation for the traditions of their Ancestors.
