Cancer Treatments for Khiana

Donation protected
We have had many ups and downs, as most everyone does, but in the last couple of years life has seemed to set the difficultly level to Horrendous. Which has pushed us all emotionaly but pushed us even further financially. In recent years, we have spent  alot of energy trying to stay positive and strong as a Family. We have lost Grand Parents, Parents, and siblings to illnesses that were both life long stuggles and short term sicknesses. 2017 proved to be no exception and has really put us in a position to face a biggger test as we move into 2018.

Khiana, Our 14 year old book reading , music loving, caring, and loving goof-ball princess was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.

The cancer, which has two different types of  cells, was found in a large tumor that was removed during a surgery in Mid December. One cancer cell type is a very agressive and  rare form or Ovarian cancer and the other a managable form of cancer cell but is made difficult to treat because of the other type.
The agreesive form, given the name of  Primitive Neuroectodermal, is not only rare for a person of her age, but rare, as in, she had a 1 in a million chance of beinging diagnosed with this type. Overall, the cancers were categorized as a Mixed germ cell tumor and caught at Stage 1, but she is definitly not out of the woods.

Today we recieved her treament plan...

Starting next week and every 3 weeks after for the next 6 months Khiana will be given 5 different forms of Chemotherapy. She will need to be in the hospital during her treaments, one stay is 2-days and the other will be a 5-day long course of Chemo. However, Her Doctors tell us that these treatments will be given to her in the hopes that the medicine will eradicate the cells that were found as they have no way of tracing the aggressive form of cancer cells in her body.
Her Doctors also said that her chances of making it through this are very high. For this we a greatful.

Which brings me to the reason we have decided to reach out to those that are close to, or have ever dealt with cancer and the financial burden it can put on a family. We are a family of 5. My Wife runs her own buisness,  and I work a full-time job during the day, a part-time job at night, and help my Wife with the business she made successful. We typically put in 55-70 hours a week, each, sometimes more, and still some how make time to feel like a family every once in a while on the occasion that we are all home together.  With the news today, these next 6 month  are going to get very difficult, not only for Khiana, as the Chemo works it's magic, but for her Brothers, Myself, and my Wife. Emotionaly we can pull eachother through as we have done so many times before...

Doctor vists are going to have us driving from our home to the  hospital atleast once a week, a 60 mile round trip, and then the weeks of treatments will see us missing work and having to close shop on the business to make sure that we are there for Khiana during this time. Some of the 5 day stay will have us going back and forth everyday. Which is going to prove to be a problem when our Oldest son will need a car for his scheduled work days during the next few winter months.

Through all of this, we do have health insurance from my employer, but as most with insurance now a days can relate, insurance is only there because you might get sick, and doesn't cover much past regualr screenings until your high deductible is met. We will be doing our best to support ourselves as we have done up until now, but we are in need of help.

We are a strong and resourceful family who will always find a way, but in this instance, the only way we are rich is with the love we have for eachother.
