In Mid-July Kevin’s leg swelled up and he could hardly walk. He was also experiencing stomach issues, back pain and was having trouble eating without feeling nauseated. Kevin went to the doctor and they found blood clots in his right leg and decided to put him on blood thinners. He went back in to the Doctor for more blood work, the doctor determined his blood was too thin so they stopped the thinners. Two days later they retested his blood and results showed Acute Renal Failure. They sent Him to the Redmond ER and he was then later transported by ambulance to St Charles in Bend Oregon. Kevin’s blood was still too thin, so they gave him 4 pints of plasma before they could start dialysis treatment. After many days of testing and poking while in the hospital, we learned the heart breaking news...
Kevin has an incredibly rare cancer that is fast spreading called Signet Cell Carcinoma. The cancer is in his renal arteries (thus the kidney failure), kidneys, esophagus, GI tract, and lymph nodes in the groin. He's in stage 4…This cancer is evasive, aggressive and inoperable. It's not curable and hard to treat. Pain management will be provided at home with the help of a Palliative Care Team and because his kidney is not functioning he will continue to need dialysis.
Kevin is a wonderful provider, loving husband to his wife and amazing father to his two children. He has worked hard to provide for his family and is always willing to help others out with whatever they may need or ask. He gives countless hours to his church and community, doing all this without ever expecting anything in return. We are asking friends and family to come together to support Kevin, Carrie and the kids in prayer and financially. Medicals bills are mounding along with loss of wages. This Go Fund Me campaign is a way to send Kevin and his family the funds needed for his treatments, medical bills, and family's expenses.
