Kerri Feldman's Medical Fund

1/30/2019 - Happy New Year 2019 - We wanted to reach out to everyone who has helped us reach our goal. Without your help there is no telling how thing would have gone. Kerri is now approaching her 3 1/2 year anniversary of her cancer surgery and it was all of you, your donations, your prayers, your blessings, your reaching out to us directly sometimes, that has made a huge difference in Kerri's recovery.
She is not out of the woods, as Pancreatic cancer can rear it's ugly head at anytime even with the pancreas no longer present. There have been good days and bad days but because of all of you her recovery has been great and strong.
We would like someday to return the favor and you will always be in our hearts.
We LOVE and will remember all of you.
Brian

8/14/2018 -
I moved to a new job, a better job and Kerri had to completely change her insurance program but we had to pay 1,000's to Cobra and the cost of the special enzymes she need has gone up again (surprise? not) plus she has another surgical procedure coming up and we need to pay for a private nurse this time.
We need to reach our goal as that will help to cover these last steps and all of you have helped us so much and helped Kerri heal and get stronger.
So I am asking again for your help to help ME help Kerri.
September 4th represents Kerri's 3 year anniversary of the first cancer surgery!!!! We are looking for MORE!!!
Thank you in advance for your strong and unending support you have given all these many months and years!!!
Brian

12/5/2015 -
My wife Kerri had Pancreatic Cancer diagnosed in September 2015 and had her entire pancreas removed in November 2015. A Pancreatectomy. Recovery has been a tough process since she is now Diabetic Type 1 and must take enzymes with every bit of food. The cost of the drugs alone is $800.00 per month.

She has been home from her surgery at New York Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for 6 months and slowly continues to improve but she needs the calm and comfort of not worrying about medical coverage and costs while she fights on.

I had great insurance until a few months ago when I lost my job. I am keeping her on Cobra but our overall medical costs are going too far exceed any income and savings we had. And I can't risk her having to go on total Medicare and possibly lose her doctors who have been so critical in her treatment and recovery. A recovery entails numerous scans every 2 months, blood tests regularly to monitor any possible cancer returning and now Insulin injections and blood sugar management without a pancreas.

So I am asking for any donations ASAP. I can't even tell you how much this will mean. We just don't have the family or other resources to help us!

The money will be used to cover doctor visits, meds and anything to do with her healthcare and monitoring over the next year. I don't want her to worry about this and this money is the answer at this point. I have not secured a new job yet but I've been looking for months.

I now have to go this route. Never thought I would have to but here we are.

A shout out to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and HackensackUMC Mountainside for all they do! and all the friends that have sent prayers for Kerri.

12/18/2017- For those not aware, during Kerri's very long illness and two major surgeries, I was let go from two jobs. It was a horrible blow to lose my job when I needed it most. Although I did find employment we had been placed on cobra and has to repeatedly meet out of pockets twice. Kerri became a diabetic and needed many diabetic supplies and enzymes that had to be paid upfront until the new deductibles were met. I had been unemployed for 5 months and took a job with a pay cut that is costing a lot of money just to drive there . I spend 3 hours a day commuting. On top of all of this the new medical insurance premiums are over 1500 a month. YhT is the clincher.
I hate Kerri being so stressed out all the time. Just to take her into the doctors in NY costs 100 dollars. Parking, copay, bridge and gas.
For all of you who have donated, some more than once, I can't tell you how much that has meant to us. For those who have prayed for kerri we both believe God has answered those prayers more than once.
Kerri was very ill for years before her cancer diagnosis so the struggle has just gotten worse.
I am very much aware that there are so many struggling just like we are. For all that can. Thank you so much. Please continue to pray. I know more than anybody she struggles everyday. Please share this page if you could.
Thank you.

"Today is a very special day for me. It is my 2 year anniversary that I have survived Pancreatic Cancer. Although it has not been easy, and I am minus 3 organs and parts of other organs-removed Pancreas, Gall Bladder, Spleen, and part of my stomach, small intestine, biliary tree. Leaving me a brittle diabetic and very poor digestive absorption along with already existing Crohn's disease I weigh 88 lbs. a far cry from the 72lbs. I was 2 years ...ago. I am alive. If you are not aware, I know I have said the stats before, only 25% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive 1 year and only 9% survive 5 years. If you survive 5 years it is at that point they will say you are in remission. I pray I make that 5 years. Depending upon how I am doing I am scanned every 2 to 3 months for reoccurrence. My next scan will be mid October.
I am so grateful to all my friends and family who have continually stood by my side on every level to cheer me on and make life more comfortable. Specifically my husband Brian Feldman. I could not ask for a better husband. You can ask any sick person especially Pancreatic Cancer patients how hard and how important it is to have a supportive family. He has never let me down. It is very hard on him. He is the biggest blessing in my life. I would not have survived without him. My sister Lori Levenstein Cell has also been at my side everyday to help and make sure we always had everything we need. I could never express my gratitude enough to all those who have helped me over the years. It has been very hard. God has truly blessed me by bringing you into my life and I will never forget your kindness and generosity. I hope one day I can be there for you. I would mention all of your names but it would be too many so I will say you know who you are. Thank you!! Know you played a huge role in my survival. You really did.
There are great groups for family and fighters of Pancreatic Cancer on FB. The people in these groups are there to provide information and to pray and lift you up when you are down. Thank you to my fellow warriors Terri Mitchell and Barry Reiter the first two people who welcomed me to the group when I joined and have provided inspiration like you can never believe. They are both suffering with Pancreatic Cancer yet they are relentless supporters to many. Caregivers and warriors alike. They are the epitome of what a warrior is. Thank you. Also my father's significant other Janet Leavy Schwartz has been an inspiration to me. She has Parkinson's and she is in her late 80's. She is the strongest woman I know. She continues on embracing life. Last but not least my surgeon and doctors if not for their skill and expertise.
Most importantly all the prayers. God has answered them. Please keep praying.
Sorry this was so long. I am just so grateful.

9/07/2017 -We have asked for help so many times and people have risen to help us, to help me be there for Kerri. I am so thankful for all the continuing support.
But we still need to reach our goal to cover the unending medical care costs so I am asking again for you to please make a donation to our cause of making sure Kerri is getting the best care possible.
Now it's 2 years and counting since the original cancer diagnosis and your blessings and prayers have made a difference and your donations will make the recovery last even longer.
Thank you for the support and whatever you can give! We truly need it to get through this next 6 months!
Best Regards,
Brian

8/25/2017 -
Please help us reach our goal. It's so needed for the unending medical cost for scans, tests, treatments, doctor visits, meds, everything Kerri must have to stay on this shaky road to recovery, from pancreatic cancer, in spite of doubled deductibles, the higher med cost, the larger premiums we have to deal with. And tough road it is on every level in our life.
So please, Donate Today.
Thank you all in advance for your prayers, blessing and support and to everyone that has already helped us so much.
Best regards,
Brian

8/21/2017 -
I am sorry to bother you all again but we truly need help to reach our needed goal. Kerri has another scan and battery of tests coming up again soon and due to the overwhelming costs of her medical care we are always behind on everything. Please donate today and help us get ahead of this crazy high cost of healthcare! I can't ever explain how humiliating this is or the gratitude I feel when we are blessed with the support from everyone. Believe me without this support this past year we would not have made it through!
Thanks to all and best regards,
Brian

8/12/2017 -
It's the support that's kept us going through it all.  Please donate today to Kerri's Medical Fund.  We appreciate the help and blessings from the bottom of our hearts.

8/07/2017 -
Boy this gets harder and never easier. I never thought I could be this annoying to everyone, begging for help  but as soon as I think we'll be good in to 2 to 3 weeks something else happens. I know I'm not alone with that experience. So once again I ask for your help. Your help for us to reach our fundraising goal because that represents those medical costs and supplies we need every day, every week. I'm at the local pharmacy almost every 4 to 5 days. They dole out the meds now, keep raising prices, making it as hard as possible.
So thanks to all you have helped us this past year or so and thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. Those really matter to us. It means so much to us. So help me keep helping Kerri. She's almost at 2 years survival from Pancreatic Cancer surgery. Help us make sure we get to 3 years, oh what the hell, 5 years!!!!!
Best regards to all,
Brian

7/31/2017 -
Today is Kerri's birthday. A little less than 2 years since the cancer diagnosis. 2 years of fighting this terrible unforgiving disease and everything that comes with it. Kerri is here with me and I keep praying for the years to keep going by. Season after season.
That is why I am here asking for donations to her Medical Fund, to help me to be always be able  to be there for Kerri and get her the best care that I can find. That's why we ended up on the team with Dr. Michael Kluger and Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, one of the best in the Pancreatic Cancer world. That's why we need your support.
So please help us now as it's truly crunch time for this whole next calendar year and help us reach our goal! So no matter what we face in rising medical costs, drug prices soaring and insurance bureaucracies we can still have the necessary resources to keep her with the right doctors and care.
Thanks to all who have supported us thus far and thanks in advance to those people who will help us now!
Hoping and fighting for more and birthdays!!!

7/23/2017
- Well Kerri is back home as of Wednesday night. Another 14 days in Mountainside Hospital but at least the pain has lessened and then Thursday back up to our favorite hospital, Columbia Presbyterian for examination and review. They determined no need for immediate surgery but we will need to deal with that stricture eventually but I am so glad she is resting at home with me and out of that hospital environment.
With what we face again now, we really need your help to reach our necessary financial goal.
Please donate any amount because it helps more than I can explain, helps me be there to make sure Kerri is getting the best care we can find so we can make our long march to her being cured.
Thanks to everyone who has continued to support us and a hat tip in advance to all who help support Kerri's cause.
Brian

7/16/2017 - 10 days at Mountainside Hospital and now they want to transfer Kerri to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NY. Problems with the intestine again, she's back in pain. Please donate to help me help Kerri. Please help us reach our goal. And keep Kerri in your prayers!
I know I can depend on all of you.
Thanks,
Brian

Until premiums drop and healthcare costs get realistic we will continue to reach out for help from all in our Family, our Friends, our Social Media contacts and anyone with the heart to support me helping Kerri in her cancer recovery. Please donate and help us reach our goal for without the funds I run the risk of not getting the best I can for Kerri and that is unacceptable. So here I am again. Reaching out. And thanks to the many people who heard our call and sent their blessing!

- Tomorrow is Kerri's next MRI. Always pins and needles waiting for the results. We have tried every avenue to cover our healthcare costs as we try lessen the impact on our life. But still we struggle with the damn money. In September Kerri will be a 2 year survivor and we look forward to the next 2 and 2 more after that. So please help us reach our goal which covers us till the end of 2017. Help me help Kerri. Pancreatic Cancer is so tough so unforgiving. Update: 5/29/2017 - Well Kerri spent another week in the Hospital. No Spleen, no immunity. Home now and still fighting. But the costs just don't stop adding to the burden. These costs impact everything else. It becomes overwhelming. Any help is so appreciated. Help us reach our goal of getting ahead of the medical care cost, especially the ones that just seem to pop up!
Brian

Update: 5/01/2017 -
Please donate to help us reach our goal to cover the medical cost through this year. The constant tests and scans are so costly and we need your help. Please Help me keep Kerri monitored by the best doctors we have found. Sorry to keep asking but we need all the help we can get. Thank you for your continued support.
Brian

Update: 4/24/2017 - This month the crunch is on heavy with all the medical bills and deductibles accumulating. We really need your help with a donation, Whatever you can spare is a huge step for us.
I cannot begin to say how much this means and how all the past donations have saved us numerous times. If you can't please share this link!
All the best to all.
Brian

Update: 4/17/2017 - At Columbia for today's review. Our health care costs are going up again, Our Insurance Plan changed in late February so we are in 'deductible hell' all over again.  And the meds and diabetic supplies all went $ up just in time for a higher med co-pay.
We truly need your help. Please donate to Kerri's Medical Fund. If you can't please share.
Help me help Kerri!
Brian

Update: 4/04/2017 - Please help! Med costs just jumped up. Premium costs as much as 3 auto loans. No help in sight from the insurance industry or the government. Reaching out for your support! For Kerri's care.
Brian

Update 3/30/2017 - Thankfully Kerri's recent MRI reading was a good one. But she is going to face treatments and testing for years to come monitoring for pancreatic cancer, keeping her Pancreatogenic (Type 3c) Diabetes under control, the result of the pancreatectomy , which is a challenge in itself . Just the cost of the insurance coverage I get from work alone leaves us scrambling to even pay the weekly doctor co-pays. Meds are up. Deductibles are up. That is why we truly need your help to reach our goal. That covers our many monthly shortfalls as we fight for Kerri's health. Thanks again for all the prayers and blessings that we know have helped so much. It hard for me to do but I am again asking to Please Donate to help us reach our Goal.
Brian

UPDATE 3/2017 - Kerri had elevated cancer markers in her last blood test. We are waiting for the upcoming scan and are hoping for the best. This development will lead to more testing, more medical care, poking and prodding, more drugs. We need your help to make this next episode not so stressful. Please donate to Kerri's Medical Fund and help me make sure Kerri gets the type of care she needs to again outlast these unending episodes with this nasty cancer. You prayers have helped so much over the past year and a half so keep them coming!! Thanks in advance to all who help us reach our needed goal and to all our great family, friends and supporters who have been here with us from the beginning of this terrible disease . - Brian
