Kenya Projects 2018

I have spent a total of about 4 months in a city called Kijabe, Kenya over the last 2 years. It has been an incredible experience meeting people, building homes, building schools and helping those in need in Kijabe. During my time there I have built relationship with incredible Kenyans who have ministries of their own. This summer I have the opportunity of going back to Kenya for 2 months and working with these people and their local ministries again. They have projects to support education for those who have none, promote sustainability for this community and provide food and shelter for those I need. Alongside them, we will be doing things like building homes for the homeless, building classrooms for children with disabilities, starting sponsorship programs for orphans with AIDS and buying sewing machines for women trying to get out of prostitution. I have set up this fundraiser because during my time in Kenya I saw poverty at its worst and am on a mission to help those in need. I’ve seen orphans on the streets suffering from aids, women run to prostitution when there is nowhere else to find money to feed their families. I’ve seen children begging on the streets for someone to sponsor them just so they can go to school. I have seen families of 12 living in huts smaller than our American bathrooms while being unable to feed everyone there. I’ve walked through the slums that many would consider a sewage dump but that millions of people call home. Many Kenyans sleep there inside cardboard homes every single night and know no different. 

The world may be broken, but it is also absolutely beautiful. These same people who were broken and hurting were the ones that took me in and housed me. They gave me the little food they had, loved me unconditionally expecting nothing in return and do the same with every person they meet. That is the reason I am raising money to go back this summer. Because I believe that everyone should know the love and the need that there is in this world. 

All of my personal expenses are already paid for. I am fundraising for the specific projects we are carrying out and the Kenyan people I will get to help. I believe that there are people here in America that would love to help with the needs of others in the world.
