In October my Father was diagnosed with a rare form of Sarcoma cancer that is attacking the soft tissue in his spine, hip and lungs. A United States Marine, he doesn't know what quitting is and is already a survivor of prostate cancer more than 12 years ago. Unfortunately the cancer gets a vote, and his scheduled treatment plan will only extend the time he has to spend with his wife, three children, seven grandchildren and countless friends and family members.
My Mother has health insurance that will be changing to a "High Deductible Insurance Plan" on 1 January 2018. As a result of the already high cost of the treatment, she will be responsible for her share of the deductible of $8,000 very soon in January. After the deductible is met, her insurance will take care of the continued costs of his treatment of radiation and related billed expenses.
With my Father no longer working and my Mother having to take time off to visit him in the hospital she has become increasingly concerned with paying this deductible, especially when she expects to immediately meet the full deductible amount in January based on the medical statements she has already received.
Having one less thing to occupy her thoughts would be what my Mother deserves. She has been the rock of this family and responsible for so many things. With the remaining time she has with him, my Brother, Sister, and I simply want to ensure she doesn't have to worry about additional financial expenses when she should be spending time with my Father and family.
I understand this request coincides with the holiday period but any support that can be offered would be greatly appreciated.
