Help Baby Kennedy!

Donation protected
On August 4th, 2014 Kennedy Rae Lord-Wittig was born to Rajona Champatiray & Blake Lord-Wittig..

This beautiful baby was born with an intestinal hernia.  It's a defect is called Gastroschisis, where Kennedy's intestines protruded through a hole beside her belly button, resting outside of her stomach.  A large medical team were present for her birth, immediately preparing Kennedy for surgery by Dr. Robert L. Weinsheimer.  There were no further complications and her intestines were inserted within two hours from her birth.  Prayers were answered!

Although her intestines were quickly inserted, they did not begin to function for several days.  Kennedy began her life fairly sedated, preventing movement from causing internal damage.  She was fed a solution of essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins.

Now, the medical staff at Swedish Hospital are slowly introducing frozen breast milk from mommy, to see how she handles real food.  The first try, she threw up a lot and her intestines got a few days to rest.  Kennedy's second attempt at drinking milk is happening now and, so far, digestion has been a success!  We are painfully aware things could change, prolonging her homecoming, but feel encouraged that day may be soon!

We're asking for help with hospital expenses, fuel, food, time away from work and future surgeries she may need.  Any funds you can spare are appreciated and will help immensely.

For our strong baby Kennedy, we sincerely thank you!
