Keeping them On the Move

Donation protected
In an effort to offer injury prevention services to my community, I've opened a treatment space which offers -
:: pre-injury comprehensive physical therapy evaluations
:: movement analysis
:: pilates strengthening
:: kids exercise classes
:: new mom exercise classes

Unfortunately, health services which address prevention are often not reimbursed by medical insurance. As a result, my services are only attainable by those who can afford to pay cash.

Through this campaign, I hope to raise money to fund services to those who can't afford to pay out of pocket. My goal is to raise funds to support 3 populations I work with who often cannot afford these services:

:: 13 scholarships for two wonderful classes -
1) Special Needs Dance at Dance Mode, San Carlos
2) Special Needs Gymnastics at Peninsula Gymnastics, San Carlos
$3000
For: kids from low-income families who have delayed motor development and low strength. Oftentimes, these kids do not qualify for insurance reimbursement for physical therapy services but they also don't quite fit into regular gymnastics/dance classes.

:: 13 Comprehensive (Pre-injury) Evaluations for Competitive Gymnasts or Professional/Pre-professional Dancers
$2000
For: Those high level dancers and gymnasts who put their bodies through so much but, because of the high costs of participating in their activity and/or the minimal income they receive for performances they often cannot take on additional expenses or they don't have medical insurance.

:: 7 Evaluations with 6 weeks of bilingual physical therapy services for Spanish-speaking patients
$4000
For: Patients who would benefit from physical therapy services in their native language and either don't have medical insurance or who have limited access to medical care.

My overall mission - To inform my community about the benefits of physical therapy - both in injury rehabilitation and in injury prevention. Most people view physical therapy as a service to seek once injured. And, yes, physical therapists are well-trained in helping people re-gain strength and mobility after an injury. But, few people realize that physical therapists can help you prevent injury and improve performance by helping you gain insight on your weaknesses and compensatory movement, then teach you how to address these issues.

Everybody deserves a little TLC for their aches and pains and an opportunity to exercise in a supportive environment. In fact, you deserve a little TLC too. So, if you donate, you'll have access to free services!

Thanks so much for your support and for spreading the word about this campaign!

Please feel free to inform me if you know somebody who can benefit from these free services.

In case you're wondering about the numbers -
I was born on St. Patrick's Day (St. Patrick who is said to have driven away the snakes in Ireland) in 1977 (the lunar Year of the Snake). In light of this irony, I'm viewing 2013 (the year of the snake) as an auspicious year - so I'm doing things in 13's for this campaign!
