Keep Susan's Sun Shining

Donation protected
Susan is still at Hopkins, but now is in CCU,  which is a more critical care unit then the previous one. She will be in the CCU until a heart becomes available. She was moved there when her stomach  started to shut down – her heart was not able to maintain necessary functioning  by itself.  A small balloon pump was put in to assist her heart in pumping.

Despite this, Sue has done her best to keep a positive attitude and hopeful outlook. To look at her, often smiling, it's difficult to believe how sick she is.  The reality is that she is gravely ill and we have almost lost her several times since she's been in Hopkins. Sue is an extraordinarily strong (and beautiful) woman - her strength is amazing!

She was granted "sunshine Therapy" and was taken outside for 30 minutes  recently and is hoping for it to be ordered again soon. This was the first time that Sue has been outside since she entered Hopkins several months ago.

We all appreciate your prayers, visits, and, yes, those  critical and necessary monetary donations.

Our family and friends  have truly been amazing – thank you so much!

Initial Post:  As many of you know, my sister Susan's health has been declining over the last few years. She has endured heart failure, countless cardiac events and a stroke that have all contributed to the deterioration of her heart. The doctors have taken extraordinary steps to improve the health of her heart. In spite of their efforts, her heart just isn't willing to cooperate. She is now permanently hospitalized at Johns Hopkins awaiting a heart transplant.

Susan has had amazing support from her family and friends and it has helped to keep up her spirits.  Unfortunately, the procedures that she has already had, her current hospitalization and future heart transplant all require a tremendous amount of money. Additionally, when Susan does receive heart, she will need to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of her life. That medication costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $5,000 per month.

Susan is an extremely accomplished and driven woman.  It's driving her crazy being in the hospital, not being able to work and knowing that she will need help with her current and future financial obligations.

I know that some people are unable to financially help Susan, but for those who can, please consider contributing to her go fund me cause. Susan would be extremely appreciative of any donation - no amount is too small.
