I hope you all have a warm place to live in, and plenty of food to eat and good health!!!!

Unfortunately we don't.

We are in FORECLOSURE.

We have been living in our home for over 30 years now. My two special need adult sons (who still live with us) have never know any other home.

Our troubles started back in 2008 with the Wall Street BS. We were talked into a second mtg, and investing our small retirement fund into Ameriprise (sp?) by a pretty face. At the same time my husband started to forget things. Which later developed into dementia/Alzheimer's. He had to retire. At the same time we lost all the money from our retirement account and became unable to pay our mtgs or property taxes. This was devastating to my husband who worked for 60 yrs in the aerospace industry.

I had worked for 17 years as a children's entertainer, and I was really good at it. But in 2000 I got breast cancer on my left breast. 2001 I got it on the right breast. 15 years went by and I thought that I beat the breast cancer, but no 2016 I got it on the right side again, more surgeries, more radiation treatments. Yes you can have radiation treatments on the same side as before as long as there's 15 yrs in between. You might ask why I didn't have a double mastectomy, because if you do and the cancer comes back, the only place for it to go is in your chest. So I decided it was easier to remove my breasts bit by bit instead of my chest.

Now all we have to live on is our combined social security. Because my husband worked so long he receives a somewhat descent amount of social security. But it's not enough to pay for all the utilities and food here on Long Island. We have the electric, gas, water, heating fuel, cable for tv, phone service, car insurance ($500+ a month) car payment, food and food and more food. I do get some food from pantries but they DO NOT give you meats or fish nor produce, and dairy, and paper products or cleaning products, and def no toilet paper nor any dog food. We can not get food stamps or medicad or heating fuel from social services because we are over qualified. But we don't have enough to pay the mtgs or taxes.

Even thou we might (most likely) be evicted we still need to do repairs on the house just to manage to live here. The basement floods every time there's a heavy rain. There's no electricity upstairs do to faulty wires, and also in the garage. The front large garage door is broken. The furnace needs repair. The handle to the kitchen sink rotted away, the dishwasher and stove are broken. The tiles in the downstairs bathroom started falling off into the tub. The upstairs bathroom sink has been clogged for two years (nothing works on it) and the list goes on and on and on. Even thou the house is falling apart it's better than living in the street.

I can't get a job because I am my husbands caregiver. I have to do almost everything for him. I am trying so hard to manage the bills but they get out of hand every few months.

This is just too much for one small woman to handle.
Taking care of loved ones and myself, finding food, paying bills, finding heat, doing the cleaning and laundry and mopping the basement. We really need help.
Senior protective services have not been much of a help, because we're over qualified. And Meals on Wheels won't help us because I'm able to drive. One time I took my husband with me to Walmart to buy food and we had to have a store lock down, just like they do for kids, because he wandered off and I couldn't find him.
Recently I had to put signs up in the house showing him where the different rooms are.

I hope with the holidays coming up that you can find it in your hearts to help us out. We are looking for angels!!!!
