Katrina's Lyme Fight Support

As of today and the past 4 years, I am fighting to take back my life from Chronic Lyme Disease. I currently have lyme disease, mycoplasma infection, anaplasma (infection in my brain), and 2 viruses. While camping in Yosemite, Ca, I must have been bitten by an infected Deer Tick. It could have been at least once, but we don't know. In 2009, I became extremely ill, but we didn't realize the signs of Chronic Lyme Disease. Over the next 2 years, I suffered many seemingly unrelated symptoms including severe pain, lymphadenopathy, low-grade fevers, muscle aches, interstitial cystitis, chronic bronchitis, SIBO,worsening asthma, joint pain, chronic fatigue, headaches, eye pain, concentration and memory problems, etc. My every day life can be such a struggle, but I will not give up. The journey to find a path to healing has taken me through many healthcare providers, alternative treatments, and I was finally diagnosed in March 2012. Now I am going through six months or longer of intravenous antibiotic therapy. In addition, I have a large amount of supplements and b12 shots that I have to take. I still graduated high school against all odds and am in college now with the goal of becoming a registered nurse. It is an uphill battle and hard to manage all of my coursework while being so sick and having to hook up to my IV meds. The medical expenses I have had have taken a toll on our family. Chronic Lyme Disease is controversial and finding doctors who will treat you can be a challenge in itself. In addition to my costs, my father has been disabled for 12 years. I plan on making a positive difference in others lives when I become a nurse. I have learned so much through this illness and I know what an impact an empathetic nurse can make.
