Help Katie's Kindergarteners

Unfortunately, like many low income public  schools in the nation, my school can't afford to fund basic supplies and furniture for my new Kindergarteners 

Hi my name is Katie, 

I just graduated with a Masters of Arts in teaching and received my dream job of being a Kindergarten Teacher

I'm really happy about finally finishing school and starting to work.

Now I have to fill up my empty classroom...

I will be teaching at a school in the Bay Area of California where most students are from low income families 

I want to be able to give them access to as many opportunities as possible 

So they will feel confident about themselves as learners and members of the community 


I have been given a room to teach in but the public school I will be working at cannot afford to cover the cost of supplies and furniture

So it is up to me to transform this empty room into a fun, safe learning environment for the kids

Some of the things I need now are:

A desk

Bookshelves

Lots of picture books

Leveled reading books for Kindergarteners 

Fun Prizes for good behavior 

Art supplies

Basic school supplies like

Glue

Paper

Crayons 

Pens

Play supplies like...

Legos

Building blocks

Puzzles

A Play kitchen

Bins and baskets

Pocket charts

Rugs


And a teaching easel

The total cost all the furniture I need plus the books and school supplies will cost over $5,000 new

However I will be searching used sites like Craigslist and garage sales to save money 

I realize there are some things that I will not be able to find on Craigslist but I think I will be able to get most things I need for $2,500

All donations big or small will help out a lot

And $10 or $100 donations are equally appreciated

If you can't afford to donate, a share of this campaign would be awesome

ps. 100% of donations will go towards filling up my Kindergarten classroom with supplies and educational materials for the children. 

Also, all extra donations will go towards making the best learning environment as possible for the kids. 

pss. My goal is to recieve enough funds by August 1st. because school starts on August 15th and I need time to set up my classroom and purchase all the items needed.
