<div>Katia a toujours été une femme au grand cœur, pleine de vivacité et de rires et engagée à faire une différence. Depuis plus de 15 ans elle consacre du temps à contribuer par son bénévolat. Elle a notamment œuvré pour soutenir des dizaines de gens eux aussi engagés à faire une différence dans la société. Elle valorise le don de soi et s’investit auprès de jeunes et de personnes âgées de son entourage. Professionnellement, elle prend parfois des dossiers de gens démunis et leur offre son travail. Elle les appelle ses « dossiers coup de cœur ».

<div>Mais voici que depuis plus de deux ans, et trois chirurgies et multiples traitements plus tard, Katia s’applique à faire disparaître un cancer qui s’est d’abord manifesté au sein. Cependant, des cellules extrêmement résistantes et agressives se sont répandues dans le sang. Un test génétique montre qu’elles ont la capacité de se multiplier rapidement et de causer sous peu des métastases dans des organes plus éloignés du corps. Ce n’est qu’une question de temps. Ce même test permet de conclure qu’aucun autre traitement n'est disponible au Québec.

<div>Ni chimiothérapie, ni radiothérapie, ni hormonothérapie, ni autres médicaments ne peuvent l’aider. Or, la médecine de demain offre une formidable opportunité. Une technologie qui est à l’étude au Canada fait déjà ses preuves au Florida Integrative Medical Center. Après plusieurs mois de démarches, Katia a eu la formidable nouvelle qu’elle a été sélectionnée pour y recevoir le précieux traitement.

<div>Pour assurer l’efficacité du traitement, il doit être administré rapidement, avant que les métastases ne surgissent. Le temps presse!

<div>Cependant, n’ayant pas pu travailler depuis le début de ses traitements, ses économies ont fondues et le peu qu’il lui reste est insuffisant pour cette deuxième chance à la vie. Les frais sont élevés. Il faut prévoir entre 30 000,00 $ et 35 000,00 $ uniquement pour le traitement. Et, pour tenter d'atteindre toutes les cellules cancéreuses de son corps, on peut déjà prévoir que l'intervention devra être répétée quelques mois plus tard.

<div>Ensemble, avec la force du nombre, nous pouvons mettre en commun nos contributions, et faire des miracles! Donnons-lui une chance de se rétablir complètement en l’aidant à obtenir son traitement, en transmettant son histoire au plus grand nombre de quelque manière que ce soit et en ayant la plus grande intention de la voir réussir.

<div>Finalement, pour ceux qui se questionnent sur ce qui adviendrait des fonds recueillis; si à un certain moment, ce traitement ne devait plus être approprié pour Katia, ces fonds serviraient à d’autres traitements appropriés nouvellement apparus sur sa route. <div>Katia has always been a woman with a big heart, full of vivacity and laughter and committed to making a difference. For over 15 years she has dedicated some of her time to contributing through her volunteer work. She has worked to support dozens of people who are also committed to making a difference in society. She values the gift of self and is involved with young people and the elderly in her circle. Professionally, she sometimes takes on cases from people in need and offers them her work. She calls them her "heartfelt files".

<div>But now, more than two years and three surgeries and multiple treatments later, Katia has been working to eradicate a cancer that first appeared in her breast. However, extremely resistant and aggressive cells have spread in the blood. A genetic test shows that they can multiply rapidly and soon metastasize to organs further away in the body. It is only a matter of time. This same test leads to the conclusion that no other treatment is available in Quebec.

<div>Neither chemotherapy, nor radiotherapy, nor hormone therapy, nor other drugs can help her. However, tomorrow's medicine offers a tremendous opportunity. A technology that is under study in Canada is already being provided at the Florida Integrative Medical Center. After several months of procedures, Katia received the exciting news that she has been selected to receive the valuable treatment.

<div>For the treatment to be effective, it must be administered quickly, before metastasis occurs. Time is of the essence!
</div>

<div>However, having been unable to work since her treatments began, her savings have melted away and the little she has left is insufficient for this second chance at life. The costs are high. Between $30,000.00 and $35,000.00 is needed for the treatment alone. And, to reach all the cancer cells in her body, it is already foreseeable that the procedure will have to be repeated a few months later.

<div>Together, with strength in numbers, we can pool our contributions and make miracles happen! Let's give her a chance to make a full recovery by helping her get her treatment, by sharing her story with as many people as possible in whatever way we can, and by having the utmost intention to see her succeed.

<div>Finally, for those of you who are wondering what would happen to the funds raised; if at some point this treatment should no longer be appropriate for Katia, those funds would be used for other appropriate treatments that would have come her way.
