Kathy Tanamachi's Journey

Donation protected
As I sit here, ready to write about this amazing woman... I find myself overwhelmed with emotion..

Kathy and Eddie were married in 1981. They were blessed with two precious little girls; Laura Ann born on May 27,1982 and Charleen Raquel born on November 18, 1990. These little ones made up her world, as did she, for them. Kathy was an RN and had accomplished this while being pregnant with Laura and attending PCC. Her first job as an RN was at Huntington Memorial Hospital where she worked with her husband Eddie. Giving us all a glimpse of the giving and compassionate nature she has for others.  Kathy's life wasn't always work and kids, she was a deacon at Glenkirk Church and has since found a new home at Christ Church of the Valley after her daughter Charlee was baptized there. She has an astounding circle of friends that includes most of Glendora.

Kathy has a way about her, to know her is to love her. She will make you laugh at any instance, fight for what she believes  to her very core, a true friend. A nutring, loving mother and grandmother, she is the core of her family. She is the threads that bind them all as one. She is a person that words cannot describe, to know her is to love her.

Kathy was diagnosed with terminal Glioblastoma on Christmas eve of Dec. 2013. Christmas day she would undergo her first surgery that would begin the fight for her life. She was given chemo and radiation to continue this battle but shortly after, a second surgery, to remove more of her tumor would take place on May 1, 2014. In June, due to complications Kathy was rushed to USC Keck Hospital where she was diagnosed with severe pulmonary embolism. With her will to live and her strength to keep going, Kathy was once again released from the hospital. A few short days later she found herself back within those hospital walls . This time she was dealing with a "leak" of brain fluid from where the surgeries had taken place. Today, Kathy under went surgery where a catheter was placed in her spine to help drain the fluid  to hopefully stop the "leak". Dr's spoke with family today and said that Kathys prognosis is poor. This is devastating news for everyone . This left her asking, " why would God take me away from my girls?"
This horrific disease has left the Tanamachi Family financially strapped and emotionally distraught. Eddie is stressed with the task of trying to pay the bills and care for his wife whom needs him by her side. The emotional support and love of her family and friends has been astounding.  We are asking for continued prayers first and foremost for her...  Kathy has a dream for her family and has worked her whole life to reach that dream.. This battle has taken so much from them already. Kathy is fearful that they will be left with a financial burden the family cannot get out of. We are asking for anything you can give to help. Thank you so much and God bless...
