Katherine's Exchange to CROATIA

I just wanted to let you know what has been going on recently, most of it pertaining to going on foreign exchange. I'm reaching the end of my freshman year at WIlliams High School, which is going well. The past few months, I have been looking at going on exchange during junior year for roughly eleven months. The process to do this would begin in May of this year, and would include interviews, meetings, and a lot of paperwork. I am currently looking at Spain as my top choice, but my other four choices are the Czech Republic, Chile, Argentina, and Japan, although it isn't guaranteed that I will end up in any of these countries.
I would really like to do this because of the doors it could open up. North Carolina isn't much of a cultural mixing pot, and for a few years now I have thought about using my gap year between high school and college to travel, however this opportunity is more cost effective and would make it possible to go on exchange twice, once in junior year and once during the gap year. Also, I would like one huge thing to put on college applications. I feel like the fact that I studied in a foreign country for a school year would make me more desirable to colleges.
The cost for the year would include visa, passport, emergency fund, spending money, language camps, and travel. I am planning on earning as much as possible of this through babysitting, yard sales, and the website gofundme. However, I would greatly appreciate any donations toward this, which could be in lieu of birthday or Christmas presents.
