EDAP: Winter Intensive Training
My Name is Katelyn Kok
and I am in love with Dressage!
My partner in this sport is named
Morgan Enshoj (Mo), a 9 year old Danish Warmblood. I'm writing to ask that you
consider supporting me this winter as I set off for three months of intensive training
with Lendon Gray with the goal of representing New England at the 2013 North
American Junior and Young Rider Championships.
This is the beginning of my long-term goal of one day representing the
Unites States in world competitions.
Dressage is a core component of
my being for. For the past 4 years, I've been a working student, immersing
myself in a full time equestrian lifestyle. This winter, I'll be training in
Florida, combining a full time riding schedule with a full time college
schedule. Dressage is a very technical and challenging equestrian sport, for
both horse and rider. This is my
calling, and I'll remain dedicated to furthering my capabilities in this sport,
and helping those around me, to learn and further this art. But this sport is also
prohibitively expensive, and that is where Mo and I need your help.
I was incredibly blessed to be
accepted into the Emerging Dressage Athlete Program's Winter Intensive Training
Program out of many applicants from all over the United States. This program
will cover rider fitness, cross training, nutrition, sports psychology, media
training, horse care, riding theory as well as riding instruction from top
international riders. The program is three months and based in Wellington, FL,
which is the center of the equine competition world in the winter. Being in
this program is a huge step in my career as a rider and will help me to become
a well-rounded competitive professional. The cost of the program is $2500 a
month. This does not include housing for the me, meals, vet and shoeing of Mo,
competition fees, and transportation.
So, where do you come in? Mo and
I need a support team! As part of our support team, I pledge to not only fully
dedicate myself to this program, but to do everything in my will to hold up my
end by continuing college, training whole heartedly, and spreading the
knowledge I learn to you and the dressage community.
With your help, I will
work to make that happen.
Thank you for your
support!
