Karisa Thurston's Funeral Fund

Karisa M. Thurston, 23, died peacefully in her sleep on December 23, 2017. Karisa grew up in Raynham as a warm and loving girl. She wanted to keep every stray animal she ever saw, loved her friends, family and had a good heart. Everybody that knew Karisa was aware she cared more about other people that herself. Her smile was infectious, and she light up a room when she arrived.

She had been a cheerleader and brown belt in karate and that summed up how she was, a lover and a fighter.

She was a graduate of Bridgewater-Raynham High School, Class of 2012. She worked for Nestle Waters in Raynham before she was consumed by her disease.

My daughter changed my life and taught me how to love. Her kind heart and endless smile tore away the the faults of a bitter young man and  left me a loving father and a better man.  I thought I knew compassion and love but I had never had it given to me so freely and without reservation. I ache for her simple smiles and the warmth of her touch. I am broken, empty and have lost a piece of me I will never get back.   Karisa meant everything to me and I'm hollow without her, I cry a thousand times a day for her and never run out of tears. My baby is gone and I am beside myself with grief.

Karisa also leaves behind her younger sister Syriana, age 8. Karisa loved having a little sister and helped raised her. Karisa will not be there to watch grow up. She will never again get to hug her or kiss her on the cheek. She will never be there to talk to her about boys, make up, paint her nails or help her grow into a woman.  She will never be there again to hold tight and tell her its alright when she's sad. Syriana never knew a world that existed without Karisa and sadly will spend the rest of her life without her.

The family not only lost a loved one, but was left with the enormous debt for Karisa's Memorial Services.  We humble ask anybody that every cared for our daughter or us to spare what they can to lessen the burden on the family. I will be administering the funds and ensuring they are spent appropriatley. We did not spend lavishly but the cost was over $10,000 to say goodbye to our loved one.

Karisa was the loving daughter of Kenneth J. and Lisa J. (Thurston) Bowers. Beloved sister of Syriana Thurston of Raynham. Granddaughter of Grammy, Phylis and Pa, Joseph Folger of Plymouth and Nana, Rebecca and Papa, John Thurston of TN. Karisa is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/tauntongazette/obituary.aspx?n=karisa-m-thurston&pid=187638799&fhid=5130
