Kaleb's Medical & Family Expenses

Donation protected
On August 17th, my son, Kaleb, was involved in a horrific car accident.

He was driving by himself, near his home, when he swerved to avoid a deer.  Thankfully, his friend was following close behind. He witnessed Kaleb's car fly around, hit a guard rail, a telephone pole, and three road signs. Eventually coming to a stop in a ditch.  When he approached he realized that Kaleb had been tossed out of the car and it had landed upside down on top of him.  Kaleb was pinned underneath the car with his chest almost completely crushed, he was barely breathing.
His friend, overwhelmed with adrenaline, was able to lift the car off of him just enough so Kaleb could slide  out.  He was taken to a local hospital where they determined he should be transferred to the Trauma Center at Evansville Hospital.  As you can imagine, the extent of his injuries kept growing as he was being examined.  Eventually being diagnosed with ten broken ribs, a punctured lung, chipped sternum, a broken eye-socket, and a very badly damaged shoulder, which will require numerous surgeries, and along with all of that, possibly multiple blood clots in his leg. As of this post, we have no idea the extent of the cost of medical care, surgeries, rehab, and home health care.  To make matters worse, Kaleb, the sole financial provider for his family, was also self-employed, and does not have health insurance.  His inability to work is going to be a great hardship for him and his family.  Any amount of contribution to help my son, his wife Beth, and their two children, Israel, age 11 and Vera, age 8, would be greatly appreciated.  As a result of being unemployed, uninsured and having no benefits, all medical care will have to be out-of-pocket, further complicating, paying for their regular everyday modest living expenses. This is already proving to be a desperate struggle and often seems impossible.  It is because of this that I am setting up this GoFundMe account.

Because there are so many speculative expenses coming up we are trying to focus on a few things that we are certain of:

1) Help with living expenses, groceries, and bills i.e. (Aug. Electric bill $250, Gas & Home phone $150) They do not have cable or internet.

2) As a result of the loss of the family car, they are relying on an old truck that desperately needs repairs, and uses an exorbitant amount of gas.  The closest grocery store to their home is 30 miles one way and the frequent visits to medical facilities are 80-120 miles one way.  They need help with gas, hotel rooms, truck repairs, and possibly a new to them used family car.

3) Kaleb will need special equipment to aid his recovery and rehabilitation. They just recently ordered a special chair for him to have at home for $365.

4) And the obvious.... medical bills are piling up including two emergency ambulance transports, surgery to clean out his lung, numerous blood tests, x-rays, and diagnostic testing, doctor & specialist bills, hospital charges, and possibly more upcoming surgeries.

Your financial contributions would be a huge blessing to Kaleb and his family.  However, if you feel led to help by paying a specific bill, mailing groceries, or gas cards, or have something else in mind please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you so much for aiding in the recovery of my son, and your provision for his family.

For those angels who have already helped in some way, either with prayers or acts of kindness, I want to say God Bless You.  Thank you again
