Kaileen's Medical Expenses

On June 12th, 2017, Kaileen was driving to her morning class at Southern Baptist University when her car collided with a semi-tractor trailer. The driver’s side of the car was struck and Kaileen has suffered severe and life-altering injuries.
She is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, hooked up to a ventilator, with a steady feed of sedatives and paralytics to keep her unconscious and healing. The doctors are primarily concerned with the swelling in her brain: if it stays at the current level, they will need to induce a coma in order to mitigate any further damage. If it spikes, she will require immediate emergency surgery.
The best-case scenario would be for the swelling to subside, so the doctors can begin weaning her off of the machines and several medications. This will allow the doctors to begin formulating a prognosis as to the amount of brain damage that she has already sustained. Even with a full recovery, she will require months of extensive physical therapy and will likely never see out of her left eye again.
This GoFundMe account will be used to help Kaileen with her medical expenses and long-term care. Her family is helping as best they can, but with several younger siblings at home, the financial situation is incredibly daunting. Kaileen is studying to become a nurse at SBU, just celebrated her 20th birthday last month, and has a whole lifetime ahead of her. As her recovery progresses, we want her and her family to know that they don’t need to worry about these immense financial burdens on top of the long road towards her rehabilitation.
