We found Kai on a China adoption waiting list, listed as Charlie. As Jason's first name is Charles it caught our attention. We quickly fell in love and inquired about him and recieved pre-approval from China to adopt Kai.
Kai is eight years old and completely blind, but cognitively normal. As an infant, it was found that he had cancer – retinoblastoma. He received chemotherapy and ultimately, his eyes were removed. He has had a hard journey adjusting to life without sight - and without a family to guide and love him. He is such a timid little soul and sits in a dark and lonely world. We long to bring him home and give him the education (and the love!!!) that will help him be the very best boy he can be!
We live in Louisville, KY where many resources exist for the blind. We have visited the Kentucky School for the Blind and they are ready to help him learn braille, to use a cane, and to become an independent and confident young man.
We are waiting for final approval to travel to bring Kai home. Already we have spent fifteen thousand dollars, but we need some help gathering the rest of the fees for his adoption. These are our remaining expenses:
Final agency payment: 2500
His US Visa Application Fee (so he can be a citizen): 325
Post Adoption Supervision Fee: 1200
Our Chinese visas so we can go pick him up: 280
Travel expenses: 4500
Orphanage Donation: 5300
In Country Fees (passport, notaries, etc): 700
We appreciate any help you can offer, no matter how small! Everything helps bring this sweet boy home to us, his waiting family!
