Fixin Kadens Flat

Donation protected

Kaden is the happiest, and most playful kid you'll ever meet. He laughs and plays all day and just loves spending time with his mommy and daddy, as well as taking walks, he LOVES being outside.
about two months ago Kadens Pediatrician told us his head looks a little flat on the left side, and we should try getting him to sleep on his right. after two months of trying excercises and getting him to sleep on his other side it has been progressivly getting worse and our pediatrician reffered us to the DOC Band, and diagnosed Kaden with Plagiocephaly or "flat head syndrome"

What is the DOC Band?

The DOC Band, a 6-ounce device, consists of an outer plastic shell with a foam lining. Each DOC Band is different and made specifically for each child by the experienced Cranial Technologies manufacturing team in Tempe, Ariz. We only use high-quality materials to ensure that it does not cause irritation. The light weight of the DOC Band is important because it doesn’t interfere with a child’s balance or daily activities.

Above is a video from Cranial Technologies, the company we were reffered to for kaden.

With the 3-D image the Specialists said Kadens head mis-shape is moderate but closer to severe than mild. they estimate about 6-8 weeks for kadens treatment, and possibly a two band treatment, or having to get a second round of DOC Band treatment.

Why Treat
Plagiocephaly?

Long-Term Side Effects:

While there are no clinical studies showing definitive long term side effects associated with an abnormal head shape,  there are many studies that are currently looking at a variety of problems.

Physically, the implications can include a wide range of challenges. If the child faces lifelong facial asymmetry, there may be difficulty fitting them with glasses in the future. TMJ or jaw misalignment (i.e., cross bite or under bite) is also something to consider.

We want Kaden to have every oppurtunity to grow, and develop into a little boy, and young man that is confident, and able to be happy. This treatment is something we have looked into, researched and decided together on pursuing. Although alot of insurance companies cover this treatment unfortunately ours wont. The cost of one DOC Band is roughly $3,800. It is a very steep price for us personally, and we are searching every possible way to Fund our Babies future!
