Hi friends! As most of you know I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2014 and began my journey as a professional golfer in 2015. I started out on the Symetra Tour after a strong finish in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd stage of LPGA qualifying school. I played two full seasons on the Symetra Tour before I finished t-14th in the final stage of 2016 LPGA Q-school and earned my full LPGA Tour card!
This season I had a couple of great tournaments, some average events, and some tournaments where I learned a lot about my game. I finished the year at 122 on the money list to retain partial status for next year and will be heading back to final stage of LPGA qualifying school to improve my status for 2018.
I was very blessed to be able to spend my first year on tour with my husband, Kevin, on the bag. Kevin quit his job on his birthday (woohoo!) and we began our journey together with the first stop in the Bahamas! It was amazing to be able to travel all over with Kevin (Scotland, England, New Zealand, Australia) and live out this dream together. As great as this adventure is it is sometimes tough to focus on the present and not worry about how we’re going to cover all of our home and travel expenses. On flights alone last season we spent approximately $20,000. We were able to stay with host families during most events (thank you hosts!!), but our hotel bills mounted to $10,000. When you add in all the additional costs (food, gas, rental cars, home bills, and a mortgage) the number gets pretty big. I spent so much of my first year on tour stressed out about the money, instead of focusing on one golf shot at a time and trusting the process. I am looking forward to competing in qualifying school at the end of November and playing another great year on the LPGA. However, the expenses for qualifying school and 2018 are mounting. The q school entry fee is $2,500. It would help us out tremendously to have a kickstart for the season and have a bit of stability heading into 2018. All donations will be used solely for golf expenses and any help for the 2018 season would be greatly appreciated.
