Love and Support for Kinlee Johnson

Donation protected
Less than a week ago, 7 year old Kinlee Johnson started having blurred vision and dizziness. Her mom Nicole made her a eye doctor appointment who prescribed glasses and recommended she see a neurologist. The soonest a neurologist could see her was ‪Monday, November 6th.‬ Nicole was called from Kinlee’s school on Thursday after Kinlee had fallen, was light-headed, and could only see what she described as "circles" out of her right eye. Nicole responded as all moms would; Kinlee was picked up from school and taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
A CT scan was performed, in which a mass was discovered in Kinlee’s brain. The amazing team at Egleston jumped into action and within an hour Kinlee was intubated, sedated, getting an MRI and spinal tap. It was only a few hours after Nicole and Danny brought Kinlee to CHOA were they told the news no parent wants to hear-- Kinlee has a tumor in her brain the size of a ping pong ball. The 12 hour surgery with a team of 40 specialists is scheduled for ‪Monday, November 6th.‬
Although there is still so much we don’t yet know and won’t know until surgery is complete, here is what we DO KNOW:
-Kinlee has a brain tumor on her medulla oblongata that is putting pressure on her cerebellum and spinal cord. The tumor is also causing increased intracranial pressure and hydrocephalus.

- The medulla is responsible for controlling our breathing, swallowing, and heart rate thus surgery in this area of the brain is an extremely high risk.

- The tumor could be one of three types:
- Medullablastoma
- Ependymoma
- Pilocytic Astrocytoma

- Kinlee will require at minimum a hospitalization of at least two weeks and extensive physical therapy. She has a 67% chance of requiring Chemotherapy and Radiation following the surgery.

If you know the Johnsons, you know they are a beautiful little family and both Danny and Nicole have hearts of gold. Nicole will never say no and is always willing to go above and beyond for her neighbor. Danny coaches Kinlee’s softball team, leading her team to multiple championships.
Please join us as we lift this family up in prayer. If you are able to, please consider making a donation to ease the burden Danny and Nicole feel right now. Nicole and Danny will receive 100% of all funds donated.
