Urgent Appeal to Protect Kildare

Donation protected
Wind Developers have now started the process, which if they are successful will industrialise the landscape of Kildare and the midlands for generations to come.

Element Power are currently in pre-application consultancy discussions with An Bord Pleanala on an application for 55, 169metre turbines. The planning application will be lodged very shortly. The locations of the proposed turbines are available to see on the maps on the various Facebook pages of our members listed below.

Element Power in a recent press release have stated their plans are to build 3000mw of wind power in the Midlands to supply the UK market. To put that in context, that is in excess of 1300 turbines.

This initial application of 55 turbines is the thin end of the wedge to carpet our communities with industrial wind turbines, pylons and substations.

Kildare Environmental Awareness Group (KEAG) is made up of a number of groups who are passionate about protecting our environment. Its because of this passion that we are fundamentally aware of the need to reduce our CO2 output and dependance on fossil fuel. The problem is that wind developers have been very successful in giving the impression that their industry solves these issues. There is a large body of credible evidence that now shows that wind does not reduce CO2 in any meaningful way. A number of noted commentators such as Colm McCarthy, Constantin Gurdgiev, Irish Academy of Engineering and the ESB have all come out very strong publicly calling on a rethink on our energy policy, and the all wind strategy.

KEAG are requested donations from you in order to facilitate us making a credible challenge to these plans. We have commissioned experts to start the work needed to protect Kildare and the midlands. This work is costly, and due to a planning system that favours developers, a cost that has to be met by communities if we are to have any chance of protecting their communities.

These wind farms will destroy our landscape for generations to come, with the only benefits being enjoyed by the developers and their shareholders, through the guaranteed subsidies for the lifetime of the turbines.

Its for these reasons that KEAG urgently request donations to fight this threat before its too late. Any donation however small would be greatly appreciated.

Please help if you can. Thank you.
