Justin's DIPG Treatment Fund

FEBRUARY 16, 2015
Mistie and Justin made it safely to CA where Justin is to begin treatment.  The family decided on the best possible treatment available based on their research and consultations.  Thank you for ALL the donations thus far.  They have helped with the cost of the family moving a the drop of a hat all the way from Singapore!  Continued prayers and support are always needed!  Military healthcare WILL NOT cover a large portion of the treatment, as it is "unconventional".  Please share this campaign with your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, church, EVERYONE!  Let's all join Justin and FIGHT DIPG and SPREAD AWARENESS!!!

FEBRUARY 1, 2015
Active Duty Air Force family, The Seiler's, recently embarked on the greatest adventure of their lives making a change of duty station move from Honolulu, HI, all the way to Singapore in early December 2014. They had just began to settle into their new lives when over the weekend of Jan. 24/25, little 5 yr. old Justin seemed to have a lazy eye. He wasn't able to move his eye, he was seeing "2" (double-vision), and he was having difficulty walking and maintaining balance. His vision was initially tested and it was a perfect 20/20. A brain MRI was then ordered. The results came in a few days later: Justin had developed a malignant brain tumor. Prognosis: 1-3 years.

Mistie and Patrick (Mom and Dad Seiler) immediately began scrambling to seek treatment for Justin. (Mind you, Patrick broke his foot the week prior and is in a cast and on crutches.) Long story short, the current plan is that Mistie and Justin will return to Ohio immediately to seek treatment at the Cancer Center (they are due to arrive on 2/1.) Since this is such an unexpected and drastic turn of events, you can imagine all the things that came up. Purchasing airline tickets, purchasing a car in Ohio, finding housing, not having appropriate clothing for the cold North Eastern climate. Patrick and Big Sister Jessica are staying behind in Singapore, for the time being, so the family will be split up. Imagine the logistics involved in all of this, on top of the fear of Justin's diagnosis. Imagine the upfront cost of airline tickets, purchasing a car, establishing a new home (furniture, house hold items, etc.), and purchasing weather-appropriate clothing, just to name a few expenses. Mistie is self-employed; therefore she will not be earning an income for the time being. And we haven't even taken into consideration the medical treatment.

Justin is to begin intense treatment immediately, possibly even experimental treatment, which may not be fully covered (if at all) by military health insurance.
The Seiler's are a strong family with a STRONG faith in The Lord. They will not accept Justin's prognosis. They believe the situation is in His hands, as He is the Ultimate Healer. Along with your continued spiritual support through prayer and meditation, we are asking for your help to offset the current cost already incurred, and the future costs that will certainly arise.

(This fund-raising site is NOT managed directly by the immediate family. It is managed by a close friend of the family, with the family’s permission to share updates and photos.)
