On June 30th, a gunman opened fire at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, killing one physician and injuring five residents and students.
Of those injured, is Justin Timperio, a resident who completed his first year on that very day. Following the shooting, he had mulitple surgeries and procedures and now has been safely discharged from the Hospital to recuperate at home. This devasting event has impacted him beyond his physicial injuries. As a foreign medical graduate from Canada, he does not have a familial or financial support system here to help him in the recovery process. Fortunately, his mother was able to come and take care of him but had to quit her job to do so.
We pray that he recovers safely and speedily and continues his residency training in the future. But, in the next few months, he will need financial help to tide through this situation. Any donation that could help him and his family during this tragic time would greatly be appreciated.
How I know Justin:
I am the Director of Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center.
I have known Justin as a Medical student rotating in our hospital and later as an Intern In Family medicine residency training program.
I oversee the training programs and I am in touch with him. I am doing this to Justin to show the committment of graduate medical education to help him in every way we can. This will an addition to the Institutions support and help.
Justin will be the sole beneficiary and I have enrolled him to this campaign as only person who can withdraw funds from this campaign
