Justice for Cleo – Donate to help us fight the racist, anti-migrant and trans-hostile legal system!
 
 Cleo – a Black trans woman – has been put into a prison that fails to acknolwedge her gender identity, like so many other gender-nonconforming people in the prison system. She was in pre-trial detention since May 31st 2024, after being arrested without any reliable evidence, merely on the basis of general suspicion that appear to be characterized by racial-profiling, anti-foreign and transmisogynoir.
 
 On April 16th, 2025, Cleo was sentenced to 12 years and 8 months in a men’s prison, even though no clear evidence could be produced!
 
 Prisons still operate on a hyper-gendered binary system. Just like transgender people face disproportionate threats of violence in our day-to-day lives, we face the same behind bars. The medical needs of a trans person differ from a cisgender person and they should be addressed throughout an inmate's incarceration.
 
 Cleo's situation in jail is terrible: She is in isolation, is constantly robbed of her fundamental human rights, and subject to multiple forms of discrimination in the mens’ prison in Neurrupin. Urgent steps must be taken to improve the precarious conditions.
 
 Cleo is in acute danger – physically and mentally!

 This cannot go on! Cleo must be set free!
 
 However, there is a very exensive revision process—and potentially a retrial process— between Cleo and her freedom. We need a lot of money for this. We are collecing 40000 Euro

 – to pay the revision lawyer

 – to pay the defence lawyer

 – and to cover different costs in the prison.
 
 Futhermore, we were shocked to find out that all of Cleo’s belongings have been throwen away by the city of Potsdam— without our knowledge. For this reason, we have decided to adjust the fundraising goal.

 Cleo - eine Schwarze trans Frau - wurde in ein Gefängnis gesteckt, das ihre Geschlechtsidentität nicht anerkennt, wie so viele andere gender-nonconforming Menschen im Gefängnissystem. Sie befand sich seit dem 31. Mai 2024 in Untersuchungshaft, nachdem sie ohne verlässliche Beweise verhaftet worden war, lediglich auf der Grundlage eines Generalverdachts, der von racial-profiling, anti-foreign und Transmisogynoir geprägt zu sein scheint.
 
 Am 16. April 2025 wurde Cleo zu 12 Jahren und 8 Monaten Haft in einem Männergefängnis verurteilt, obwohl keine eindeutigen Beweise vorgelegt werden konnten!
 
 Die Gefängnisse arbeiten immer noch nach einem binären System, das auf Geschlechtertrennung beruht. So wie transgeschlechtliche Menschen im Alltag unverhältnismäßig stark von Gewalt bedroht sind, so sind wir auch hinter Gittern davon betroffen. Die medizinischen Bedürfnisse einer trans Person unterscheiden sich von denen einer cis Person, und sie sollten während der gesamten Haftzeit eines Insassen berücksichtigt werden.
 
 Die Situation von Cleo im Gefängnis ist schrecklich: Sie ist isoliert, wird ständig ihrer grundlegenden Menschenrechte beraubt und ist im Männergefängnis in Neurrupin vielfältigen Formen der Diskriminierung ausgesetzt. Es müssen dringend Maßnahmen ergriffen werden, um die prekären Bedingungen zu verbessern.

 Cleo ist in akuter Gefahr - körperlich und psychisch!
 
 So kann es nicht weitergehen! Cleo muss freigelassen werden!
 
 Doch zwischen Cleo und ihrer Freiheit steht ein sehr teurer Revisionsprozess und möglicherweise ein Wiederaufnahmeverfahren. Dafür brauchen wir eine Menge Geld. Wir sammeln 40000 Euro

 - um den Revisionsanwalt zu bezahlen

 - um den Verteidiger zu bezahlen

 - und um verschiedene Kosten im Gefängnis zu decken.
 
 Außerdem haben wir mit Entsetzen festgestellt, dass Cleos Habseligkeiten von der Stadt Potsdam ohne unser Wissen weggeworfen wurden. Aus diesem Grund haben wir uns entschlossen, das Spendenziel anzupassen.
