UPDATE FRI 12/22 - Holly Jean's birthday is this week so let's help her out!
about me: I'm Lin Gokee-Rindal, Holly's cousin. She and I were like siblings growing up and since I moved away from our home reservation and she had a few kids I've been out of touch.
why I created this gofundme: I haven't lived on my home reservation for a few years, and wasn't able to attend Jason's funeral or the CommUNITY Walk that happened because I was 1000+ miles away. This crowdfunder was a way for me to help my family from afar even though I would've liked to be there in person - but I can't afford a plane ticket so I used the internet instead.
BUDGET (based on $10K goal):
casket $1800
funeral home $4900
headstone $3100
misc. $200 (includes thank-you cards for funeral attendees & donors, supplies, food for the wake, etc.)
Holly will get these funds via electronic bank transfer (direct deposit into her credit union account) as soon as the withdrawals are approved by the GoFundMe team.

Baby Jason Pero was murdered by police last month. Please help us raise funds for his mom Holly and our family to ease the burden of funeral expenses.
From a family member: With the steady uprise of police brutality, you never expect it to hit so close to home. Indigenous people are killed by police at a higher rate than any other group, but my baby cousin is not simply a number to be added as a statistic. After laying him to rest in the Earth and sending him on his journey, reality is staring to hit me. He had a loving family that cared deeply about him. We loved him and he had a bright future, a future that was taken away from him after being shot in the heart and being denied life saving measures. We want justice, we do not want the DOJ’s fake cover up report. WE CAN SEE THE BULLSHIT. The story does not add up and is a way to try to make a child into some type of villainous monster.
We will not let Officer Brock Mrdjenovich get away with murder. #JusticeforJason
