Juliet Cabral-Tran was 8 months pregnant with her first child when she was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma, stage 2 cancer. What was supposed to be a time of joy and celebration has become a period of fear, confusion, and turmoil for Juliet and her family.
Fortunately, Juliet was able to give birth to a healthy baby boy named Jacques Okamura, after an almost full-term pregnancy. Because of the cancer, however, Juliet has had to endure numerous rounds of chemo, weekly injections, and frequent testing. Her most recent treatment consisted of nonstop radiation for six weeks. During these periods of radiation, Juliet's body became so worn and exhausted that she could not provide ample care for her newborn son. Finding regular childcare for their months-old child has thus become a struggle.
While Juliet’s husband, Ryu, is at work during the day, his mother Lang usually visits to care for Jacques. However, just recently, Lang was involved in a serious car accident and has had to take time off to care for her injuries. Over the past few weeks, the family has been bouncing around looking for child care all while being in and out of the hospital to care for Juliet’s cancer.
To add to the family’s unfortunate amount of luck these past few months, their Jacksonville, FL home was struck by a tree during Hurricane Irma, consequently damaging their roof. The family has every means of fixing their roof but have been hindered by their hectic schedules and financial struggles.
Though they try to make the best of their situation, the family has continued to struggle physically, emotionally, and financially. Please help Juliet fight cancer, provide child care for Jacques, and pay for her family’s insurmountable bills.
