Juanito's Funeral Costs

Donation protected
Beloved son, cousin, and friend Daël Juanito Augustin passed away on July 13, 2018 in St. Anthony, Idaho. He was 22 years old and beginning his university studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg.

Juanito was born April 12, 1996 in Port au Prince, Haiti. He is the oldest of the five children of father Jean Leptune Augustin and mother Rose Danielle Augustin. In 2011, he came to the United States and lived in New York City. He graduated from Liberty High School in Manhattan in 2015.

He was passionate about sports, cooking, his immediate and extended families, and serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he had a number of assignments and callings including the first assistant in the Priests Quorum. He was a life-long member of the LDS Church. His brilliant smile and sense of humor were infectious and electric. He also worked at the Black Iron restaurant in New York.

After high school, he prepared to go to college and was accepted into Brigham Young University-Idaho, and also readied himself to serve a full-time mission for the LDS Church. Juanito was called to the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Mission (Haitian-Creole speaking). For two years, and served in Florida—particularly teaching the Haitian people. Upon the completion of his mission, he returned to New York City.

He had begun his university studies in Idaho when he drowned in a swimming accident on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. He was 22 years old. He leaves behind grieving family and friends but also a legacy of kindness, joy, and spiritual strength and dedication that will live on forever.

All funds will help cover the costs associated with returning Juanito back to NYC this week and his burial in Brooklyn, NY.
