Help Juanita Get a Hand-Controlled Van!

My friend Juanita Espinoza was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2002 at the age of 23.
Her illness has not stopped her from living a full and fruitful life in the 12 years since her diagnosis. She has earned a BA and an MBA. She has had great jobs as a business analyst for major Chicago-area corporations. And most importantly, she is the mom to two daughters, now aged 7 and 14.
Unfortunately, MS has made a lot of things hard for Juanita and her family. After her symptoms worsened significantly in 2010, Juanita became unable to keep working. Juanita was less than a year away from earning her PhD, but had to withdraw from her program due to the worsening symptoms of MS.
Last August Juanita suffered a severe exacerbation of her illness which left her temporarily blind for a period of two months. Since then, Juanita's been unable to drive a conventional car due to numbness and loss of strength in her legs. This means that Juanita is often home-bound and reliant on others to get around.
How You Can Help
I am raising money to help Juanita make a down payment on a hand-controlled van.
Right now, Juanita has trouble getting to the physical therapy appointments that she needs to attend in hopes of improving her mobility. A hand-controlled van will help Juanita get out of the house more often to attend physical therapy and other vital appointments.
What Juanita wants more than anything is for her daughters to have an amazing summer doing the activities they love to do -- dance classes, going swimming, and attending functions with their church group. With a hand-controlled van, Juanita can be the mom that she's always been able to be in the past.

If we can raise $5,000.00, Juanita and her family will be able to make a down payment on a van that would greatly, greatly improve their lives and enable Juanita to be more active and participate in her children's lives more fully.
