Pharmacy & Medical Mission to Vietnam

Hello everyone! My name is Joy and I am going on a pharmacy/medical mission this summer to Vietnam with Vietnamese Medical Charity Organization (VMCO). VMCO is a non-profit organization with a mission to help aspiring healthcare professionals become aware of different healthcare systems outside of the United States. We hope to enhance the participant's awareness of the disparity and need for medical care in developing countries through our annual medical mission trips.
The trip will be from the end of May to the end of June. We are bringing more than 7,000 pounds of medications, supplies, and food for the people of Vietnam. Your donations will go directly to these items and not towards my own expenses of the trip.
In June 2013, the team was able to bring healthcare services to approximately 2000 patients. There were 265 amputees who were fitted with prosthetics and 1700+ were medical orthopedic patients. During the orthopedic clinic patients were given Vitamin B-12 injections or corticosteroid/lidocaine injections to relieve the inflammation of their orthopedic illnesses. We also provided free analgesics, supplements, and antibiotics to patients who needed them. In addition to giving free healthcare, we also gave school supplies and gift packages that included noodles, rice, seasonings, laundry detergent and a small monetary stipend. The team visited local medical clinics and hospitals, as well as nursing homes, orphanages and Di Linh leprosy colony in Saigon, Can Tho, Dong Thap and Vung Tau.
Any donation is really appreciate towards this mission. 100% of your generosity will be going towards purchasing these medications, school supplies and gift packages.
