My Rincon Puerto Rico

Abuelos Back Yard

My Home Town Under Water (Rincon, PR)

For those who may not know me my name is Josue Valle.  I am 35yrs old.  Native of Rincon Puerto Rico living in Scottsville, NY.  I have worked the last 20yrs in the Radiology medical field in which 12 yrs now as Radiology Technologist in Monroe County of NY.  Im married to a beautiful wife Jasmine Valle and have an 8yrs old son, Constantine Valle. Not to be too cliche, I have never done this before, nor have I ever asked anyone for money in the past.  I know that there are many organizations to donate to but none will do specifically for the loss that my Grandfather and Famly in Rincon, PR will benefit directly.   I ask in behalf of myself, family and friends in a time of great need.

(Heading Down to Plaza de Rincon)

Hurricain Maria left Puerto Rico devestated.  The eye entered the southeastern border of Puerto Rico and exited the northwestern side of the island leaving a trail of devistation everywhere.

I am glad to have recieved an update from family and friends of my home town in Rincon, Puerto Rico.  There has been reported NO casualties thus far.  There was a great loss of communication to the West side of the island, a complete black out.  There are many that still haven't heard of their loved ones but we all have faith that soon more communication outlets will open up and everyone will be accounted for.  But during that time I had lost connection with family and friends down there for the last 96hrs.

Slowly phone landlines are starting to work in some areas.  Claro which is a cellular company similar to AT&T is working hard getting cell towers up and running.  Some people in the area are reporting to have cell reception but most haven't.  FEMA is trying to get to many towns to deliver satellite phones so that Mayors can communicate with the Governors office in San Juan that way help is received.

By miracle I was able to speak to my cousins grandfather yesterday 9/23/17 who so happens to have a working land line in the Parcela on the beach.    There are trees, power lines, some flooding and debris all over the place.  According to him our town got busy and cleared the roads, traffic is moving, grocery stores are open.  It was through him that I received word that one of my Uncles and cousins are alive and well, they were out busy clearing the roads.

There is a refugee shelter established for those that lost everything.  Gas stations are accessible and there is a huge line of vehicles for it.   Food is being distributed and everone is working together.  There is no chaos.  I am proud of my town, we are family and we stick together.

There is still no electricity or clean water.  There probably won't be any for a few months, possibly end of December.

Today 9/24/17 I finally received word that my last living grandfather is doing good.  He has medical issues but is doing well.  In an urgent and immediate evacuation of his home he had to leave most of his personal belongings including medical necessities.  At this time the information I have received is that he is doing good.  The back of his home suffered structural damage but all details of the magnitude of the damages or personal loss has not been reported to me because of the limited time we had to communicate.

In preparation for this news I opened this go fund me account to help fund any  final necessities that he or my family in Rincon may need.  My goals are as follow:

* Replace medical necessities (equipment, medications)
* Replace personal items (clothing, furniture, etc)
* Expenses to replace or repair structural damage to obtain a safe and livable environment.

If you help me reach or exceed my goals I will make plans to fly to my hometown personally and volunteer where ever I am needed.  The hardest part of these devastation is picking up the pieces of whatever memory that is left and build upon it.

Thank you for your continued prayers and even more so now that I know my family is alive.  God Bless.
