In 2014 I quit my job as a Financial Service Representative at TD Bank to pursue my goal of becoming a developer. I signed up for classes at LaGuardia Community College and Two days after quitting my job I was in an accident where I broke both my arms.
After a 6 month recovery period, I began going to college. This is where my love for programming began to flourish and I started immersing myself more and more into the tech community.
I was then fortunate enough to be accepted into a program called C4Q where they lent me a laptop for the duration of the program. Now as a recent graduate of C4Q embarking on a journey of becoming a full stack web developer, am now in need of my own laptop.
Prior to an in person interview, you are required to complete in most cases a coding challenge. This requires me to have a laptop where I have my tools preinstalled ready to go when a challenge is received.
I am raising money to buy a MacBook so that I can continue my self-studies and my job search. My time at C4Q has taught me many things like JavaScript, React, Redux, Node, Express, Sequelize, Mongoose, HTML, and CSS. C4Q has also taught me to be a self-learner and I have picked up additional skills like ReactNative, Electron, Ruby on Rails, and Wordpress. Technologies are always changing and working on a MacBook which is industry standard will allow me to pick up any new technologies.
