Heal Josh's Kidneys Fund!

Donation protected
My  boyfriend Josh Cottrell is 26 years old from Portland, OR.  He is an excellent musician, loves TV shows, movies, Batman, anything Tolkein, and is an amazing man of God.

Josh has a very unusual condition with his kidneys that produces an excessive amount of stones.  Most people might have a few stones in their lifetime; for a while, he would get a few stones a month.  Josh currently gets a stone every THREE days.  Kidney stones are incredibly painful; the pain from even the small kidney stones has been compared to being worse than childbirth. The stones do not always pass quickly; sometimes it can take them days to drop into the bladder before the pain somewhat subsides.   Josh's life is currently on hold, as he is in so much pain, he rarely feels well enough to leave the house.  Josh can barely pass a stone before a new one is formed and is starting to work its way through his body.   Because of this, Josh is in incredible pain on a daily basis, and must be on a very high dose of medication just to get through the day.

Josh has been passing stones for almost 6 years.  Because of this, he has been unable to work steadily, and his family is paying for both medical insurance and all the medical bills necessary for his condition.  Josh has an excellent team of doctors, ranging from his family care physicians, to a pain doctor, Urologist, Nephrologist, Naturopath, and more.  All of the combined efforts of these physicians have been unable to come up with a solution for Josh, other than to put him on higher doses of medication, which they have said will eventually kill him.

Josh has finally secured an appointment in the middle of January at the Mayo Clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with doctors who specialize in chronic kidney stones.  He has been recommended to this clinic by all his doctors, so we are hoping and praying for some a permanent solution for the kidney stones.  This trip is going to be very expensive, but is absolutely necessary for Josh's future.  We have found out that his insurance will not cover the cost of the trip (appointments, MRI, any testing, flights, etc.), so it must all come out of pocket.  We are estimating it will cost approximately $5,000 to cover the trip, airfare, hotel, MRI, other scans, testing, and appointment costs.

I know now that we are weeks before Christmas, and that everyone's funds are tight as we prepare for the holidays. On behalf of Josh's family, I am asking for any amount you are able to donate to get Josh the help he desperately needs by January 5th.  I also ask you to please send your prayers, thoughts and love to a man who is so loved by his family and friends, who wants more than anything to live a normal, healthy and PAIN FREE  life.

Thank you SO much for reading, and have a very Merry Christmas!
