Boman Family House Fire

My brother’s family had their house destroyed on Monday, August 28. Joshua and Allison Boman have three young kids- John (8 yr), Judah (5 yr), and Thea (2.5 yr). They were able to escape in time, and thankfully they are all safe! We are grateful to everyone that has already come to their aid, including the emergency responders and their local community.

Josh and Allie live in Muncie, IN where they are campus missionaries with Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship on the campus of Ball State University. Fall semester just kicked off, and they are actively involved with meeting the new students. Both John (2nd grade) and Judah (kindergarten) started school a few weeks before the fire. Thea is in daycare and had recently moved into her big girl bed.

Please help the Bomans by donating to their recovery. They are in the process of sorting through their belongings to determine what is salvageable, and they are also working with the insurance company to begin making plans to rebuild their house. They will be moving into a rental soon, and they don’t know how long it will be until they can return home. Thank you for your support, prayers, and love!

Josh’s story is below in his own words.

“Yesterday we woke up at 4:30 to discover our house on fire. Everyone escaped safely, but our house was almost entirely ruined.

We have experienced such kindness in the aftermath. Our neighbors spotted the fire early, got help, and took care of us in the early morning hours. The Muncie Police Department and Muncie Fire Fighters Local 1348 responded rapidly and did a great job. American Red Cross Hoosier Heartland provided immediate aid. Glad Tidings Church of Muncie, our Chi Alpha group, family and friends have all helped financially. Our insurance company has put us up in a hotel until we figure out what's next. God has provided for everything we need, and we are so grateful!

For those who want to help - we probably won't have a good feel for our needs until the end of the week. It means a ton to have so many friends offering aid. We will try to be very open about practical ways to help in the coming days.

The only thing we lost is stuff. We still have everything that is really important. We are more thankful than ever to have a God who watches over us and a huge network of genuine friends that love us. Thank you everybody!”
