Our brother, Joe (he’s the one holding the baby), has cancer.
There is that saying, about the best laid plans... Our beloved Joe Wyrick had a plan. After working so hard (sometimes 80 hours a week) for years and raising his kids, his plan was to semi-retire to his sister Donna’s beautiful farm in Virginia. Work part time and help out with the Farm.
With his children grown and years of saving, hours of overtime, and careful calculations he was going to leave the hustle and smog of Los Angeles far behind and enjoy a slower pace of life. Clean air, sheep, and peace were a part of the plan.
July 2018 was to be the beginning of a new and beautiful chapter for him... but last month all that changed.
He was feeling under the weather. Then he started throwing up blood. An ER visit turned into a hospital stay with MRIs, CT scans and biopsies.
The news from the doctor was devastating.
Joe was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer. Life just turned inside out.
And although he is going to fight with the same dedication, humor, and hard work that he has always shown, he can’t do it alone.
Joe had to move out of his apartment in California and move in with our brother Matthew in Georgia while he is receiving treatment. He needs help financially. He is receiving chemotherapy every two weeks. And while he has insurance at the moment, he is struggling with the co-insurance and out of pocket costs. We are unsure of when he will need to start paying cobra. Any contribution will be so appreciated.
