Jon & Fran: Helping to Heal

At approximately 6:30 pm Saturday July 21, while on their way to a barbeque with friends, Jonathan Sutton and Fran Alini became victims of a horrific car accident on Rte 104 in Wolcott NY. Another driver had crossed the double yellow line and hit them head-on at excessive speed.

After being trapped inside of their mangled Toyota Prius they were finally extracted and rushed to separate hospitals. Jon was taken by ambulance to University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital; Fran was airlifted to Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse. It would be many hours before either of them would know where the other was or if they were even alive.
Their injuries are extensive. Jon has suffered a shattered ankle, 2 broken legs, serious internal injuries. Fran’s injuries include broken bones in both of her ankles and feet, a fractured rib, serious internal injuries and dental fractures. After several immediate surgeries they remain in serious, but stable, condition. At this time Jon has been released from ICU to a regular room, while Fran remains in ICU. Additional surgeries are scheduled after which an extended stay at a rehab facility is expected.
Jon and Fran are remarkable people who have touched so many lives with their friendship and love. They would drop everything to help anyone in need. It is by the grace of God, and the prayers of all of you – their friends and family, that Jon and Fran were able to survive this life threatening crash.
So many of you have asked how you can help these incredible people in their time of need.

They have a lengthy road ahead of them, filled with additional surgeries, rehabilitation, therapy and extended care.
