On May 17, 2017 Jolene was told she had three cancerous tumors on her brain. A few hours later she was rushed by ambulance to the nearest hospital. The hospital staff performed a CT and it was found she was hemmorhaging from a blood vessel that had ruptured on her adrenal gland. We were told that she would need to be sent by ambulance to the twin Cities and that they were not sure if she would survive the trip. That is when we learned that she had cancer in numerous places.
She arrived to HCMC and after telling her how much she is loved she was taken to get a procedure completed to stop the bleeding. She stayed at HCMC until she was able to be moved to a closer location to be with family in her final days. During this time Jolene and I were able to get some things taken care of. She was tired most of the time and in between sleeping we would tell her how much she is loved and she would tell us she loved us.
May 27, 2017 Jolene was stable enough to move to Foley Heritage Nursing Home. It was wonderful to have her 7 minutes away rather than 80 minutes. We shared laughs, love and tears during this time.
June 6, 2017 Jolene died at 4:30 am. As I held her hand and tears streamed down my face I knew she was no longer in pain. I have not been able to bury her because there is no money. I am hopeful that we can raise enough money to bury my sister and Connor's mom. We need closure.
With all of this comes the responsibility of raising her son Connor. I need to be able to get guardianship of him. This also takes money. I have not been working which has already put a strain on finances. Again, I am hopeful we will be able to raise enough funds to cover lawyer costs as well as court costs.
Any help would be appreciated. We need to be able to begin the process of healing.
